I follow the Canada Food Guide and according to that, it is okay. I run 1.5 miles (2.4 km) every other day and have a physical summer job. I also follow a calorie counter (The Daily Plate) and everything seems to be alright there (Carbs, Calories). The only problem is protein, with my daily protein scoring at 137% Again, would it be alright to carry this "habit" on back home? I am 16 years old and I am (apparently) getting the recommended amount of protein for my age. If two teaspoons of peanut butter daily is "unmoderated," could somebody please tell me?

Thanks so much.....

I am eating a balanced diet. This seemed like a "healthier" dessert that I could include towards my servings.

I eat peanut butter frequently - it's a great source of protein. The major brands do have a lot of fat in them. If you'd like to do it in a more healthy way, either buy natural peanut butter without trans-fats, or make your own - it's very easy.

Restricting yourself to peanut butter is not good. You are still growing and need a variety of healthy foods. Everyone needs a varitey of healthy foods for proper diet and nutrition.

Ah, Oh,
Did you know there was a war going on?

People are dying in hospitals around the globe, older adults don't have health care sufficient enough to afford them a healthy existence, children are homeless, aids, the 2008 elections are coming! Castro is still alive and Mother Teresa isn't. Our neighbors to the south in Mexico are dying to reach freedom, oh, and there is the big problem of peanut butter on bagels.

help us solve these less important problems first, then we'll discuss the bagels.
And by the way, did you know most peanut butter is jammed packed with partially hydrogenated oils. These oils block your heart valves and will KILL you, which makes everything your worrying about a MOOT point.

As long as you're eating good food as many meals as you can, this "treat" won't hurt you. While peanut butter has a higher fat and sugar content that some foods (buy natural peanut butter, please!), peanuts have quite a bit going for them, nutritionally.

It's okay to indulge, here!
