First of all, let me supply you with the link to download your owners manual:
http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WOXEXP/~MUS~LEN/42/99expog1e.pdf
Voila! Free Manual !
(This is in pdf format so it should be easy for you to download & then save it to your computer for reference.)

Secondly, to answer your question-
See page 19 for headlamp controls.
This page also explains "DRL" aka daytime running lamps.

See page 97 for instructions on the "Autolamp System", this is the system that automatically turns your headlights on & off.

If you have trouble with the above link to download, try this one:

from the 2nd link you can also click to download the other helpful owners guides for your vehicle.

Some cars have a switch that keeps the lights on for 15 seconds after there turned off, if you don't have the hand book to tell you then disconnect the battery and go to the dealership and ask them, If they don't come with one replace the light switch. Good Luck and GOD Bless

There's a slider switch under the rear-view mirror. Move it all the way to the left, and the lights will go off.

This switch turns your headlights on for you when it's dark, so you don't have to do it manually. The slider controls the sensitivity level.

If you have daytime running lights, the lights stay on as long as the ignition switch is on.
If you do have daytime running lights, the only way to turn them off is to disconnect the daytime running light module.
