No...

Being "non-existent" has a serious "numbing" effect...

No "itching" either...(good thing for that, too, 'cause they have to fingernails to scratch it with...)

A spirit, or someone's soul, doesn't have a physical body, so the pain someone would feel in hell would have to be an emotional pain. Pain caused by being as far as one can be from the Light and Love of God. Imagine if you were next to God in Heaven, you'd be bathed in His light, his glow if you will, which would warm and heal your soul. That would be emotional bliss. Hell is distance from God, which would push you further from the warmth of His light and presence. That would be emotional torture. That said, I think even souls in hell have the chance to move closer to God. I don't think that there's such a thing as being completely irredeemable.

I agree with the findings of the other answerers that the question is a contradiction in itself. However, if one believes in the theory of spirits perhaps the torments of the soul must be more excruciating than physical pains. This is our experience also--we who have bodies-The mental torture is more painful than physical pain.

From my own experience, I would have to say yes. My spirit seems to feel physical pain when I am not right with God over something. Not sure how else to explain it.

No, Jesus said they are not made of flesh and bone.

Luke 24:37-40 (New International Version)

37They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."

40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
