What is your opinion based on the following?

"In Islam, a woman has the basic freedom of choice and expression based on recognition of her individual personality. First, the non-Muslim woman (from the people of the Book) is free to maintain her religion. Allaah Says (what means):"There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right path has been made distinct from wrong path.” [Quran 2:256]

Women are encouraged in Islam to contribute their opinions and ideas. There are many traditions of the Prophet which indicate women would pose questions directly to him and offer their opinions concerning religion, economics and social matters.

A Muslim woman chooses her husband and keeps her family name after marriage. A Muslim woman's testimony is valid in legal disputes. In fact, in areas in which women are more familiar, their evidence is conclusive."

Womens rights

I would just like to share some information about women’s rights that I have just found out. The woman has the right to have the similar levels of food as she had before she was married. In terms of quality.

He does not have to cook or clean for him. she can refuse and he would have to pay for someone to do it.

He can refuse to life with the in laws and demand her own house.

She has the right to take money from him if he is tight fisted.

She has the right to the mahr which is a wedding gift from the husband. If she wants a divorce she pays some of this back.

She cannot be forced into a marriage, if she is she can walk away.

The status of the woman,

He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Heaven is below the feet of the mother."

He (peace and blessings of God be upon him) said when asked who was more worthy of companionship, mother or father? He said, "mother".

There was a woman who was known for being mentally unstable, she said that she wanted to speak to him, sometime. He (peace and blessings of God be upon him) said, "Sit on and street that you wish and I will sit with you."
Later she called him and he (peace and blessings of God be upon him) sat with her and listened to her.

During the Battle of Uhud, the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon) was wounded and bleeding heavily. He was preventing his blood from touching the ground when asked why he said, "The angels of wrath will come to these people if my blood touches the floor." A woman who was present in the battle came to his rescue and fought many men, she hamstringed many horsemen. She received several wounds that day and all she wanted to do was protect him. Later after the battle he was carried home and refused to enter his house for treatment until he heard the news that the woman who protected him was well and receiving treatment.

When his daughter would come into his gathering he would stand up, kiss her forehead and hand then sit her where he was sat.

There are so many examples, I am really sorry that I can't give you more.

I think some of the new problems women face is that now they are just as equal, most of the time, earning the household money. But still are expected to get dinner and take care of the kids, clean the house. Men are also I noticed are less likely to work and expect the wife to take care of them. Men are afraid to open the door for us, I guess either from fear that we will yell at them that we can do it ourselves, they don't give nice compliments due to fear that we will charge them with sexual harassment. We are lucky to find a man that cares enough to want to be at home, and is a little old fashioned about taking care of us but still allows us to be an equal. I also think that women are pressured to look a certain way, because of false advertising that Hollywood has shown us with the perfect women. When in fact this is an illusion that without 50 people working on her for 5 hours will never achieve.

In Islam, women are equal with men, not the same as men. Big difference. Not being the same as or identical with men biologically or physically doesn't mean we're not supposed to have rights. We are human beings who happen to be female. We are not less than human, less intelligent, less worthy of human dignity and respect, or inferior to men because of that.

In a nutshell, equal rights in Islam is not the same as equal rights from the West's perspective. People want to question why there are no women clerics or imams in Islam; yet, how do they explain women not being chosen by Almighty God for prophethood? Only men? I've never heard of any women prophets of the same caliber as the men Almighty God chose.

Earl D...you are wrong...post away....

The prophets own wives were his closest advisors...Khadija was his number one supporter and gave him counsel in which he sought out whenever he had a problem...Aisha often argued with him when she didnt accept something out right...arguing could be heard from within the walls of the prophets homes often...indicating that not only did he accept his wives arguing with him...but did not rebuke them or forbid them from it....neither did God.

Some of the more famous hadith narrators and teachers were women...Aisha being the first among them...

For those that said a raped woman needs 4 witnesses to prove her case...that is wrong....period.

Why are there no women clerics or Imams in Islam?

If women are equal why does she only get half of the inheritance a male does?

If women are equal why does she need five witnesses to testify she was raped?

Why do women have to cover their heads and men do not?

"In Islam, a woman has the basic freedom of choice and expression based on recognition of her individual personality."
Please define "basic"

Under the Qur'an a WOMAN capture in BATTLE by an ISLMAIC man has NO CHOICE, but death or acceptance.

TELL me I'm wrong.

I've READ the verses.

If you tell me I'm wrong then the Qur'an lies and Islam is a Lie.

Would you like the Verse, I'll give them to you by number.

Its funny, because I've heard something completely opposite of what you've said. if muslim women are equal then why is it when she gets raped, its HER fault? there are muslim women all over the world who have been abused, and maimed by her husband for nothing at all... if that's equality, then I feel sorry for all those poor women.
