I assign meaning to my life, god doesn't.

Of course it's not meaningless if you don't choose to serve "God", Hon. You can be a good person just because it's the right thing to do, not just because you fear offending someone who might pitch a lightening bolt at you.
I believe it's in EVERYone's best interest to be more concerned about how we can serve humanity, as well as the other creatures (like that cute little kitten) that we inhabit the earth alongside.
Too many people, I've heard it said, are so obsessed about the next life that they forget to live THIS one.

Yes. Life is meaningless without serving God. Where will the butterflies go, when they used to come around as God's way of saying hello. If I don't have an eternal life to look forward to, all I am going to think about is the hell that I am living on Earth. God is the way to salvation. God is the way to eternal happiness. I don't want to be a lost soul. I don't want to die and just roam around aimlessly. God is with me everyday. There are days I pray and there are days I listen to His message. He is better than a cup of coffee in the morning. He gently sends me into peace so that I may sleep at night. He guards me against nighmares. He shields me with his light everyday so that no harm will come to me. He watches out for my loved ones. He shows mercy to people who have illnesses that can't be cured. And the best part, is that he sends me his idea of humor almost daily. I lived without God in my life for a very long time. Now that I have found him, I lean on him for every single thing that has to do with my life and I tell ya I couldn't be happier. He knows what I am supposed to do and he makes the suggestion. My entire life would be meaningless without me God.

Is serving God signing up for an established religion? Or living a good life, respecting others, giving to and helping those in need, loving your family, friends and self?

It has meaning if you give it meaning. If you find the beauty in the seeming chaos, find the good in the seeming bad, find the heart and soul in those who might not, if you freely create the self with virtue and goodness, then you have created a life of worth and meaning and are, in my opinion, serving God (which ever that God may be or look like). God gave free choice and thought...those who exercise it excellently and serve both their own self and others are full of deep meaning.

Because none of the things we do for ourselves will last. The Bible says that if a man should live for two thousand years, all his labor is entirely in vain when he doesn't serve the Lord. Without the Lord, when you die, you die forever.

One mortal life too soon will pass. Whats done for God alone will last!

If you took the time to look up who god is ... you would not want anything to do with him and you would turn to your Creator instead.

Seriously ... it is either I or II Corinthians 4:4 - where it talks about the god of this world has blinded your minds ...

Check it out for yourselves - in that very verse there is "God" and also "god" mentioned as a bad and "good" guy ...

But; if you take even a simple Strong's Concordance and look up both "god" and "God" ... you will find out ...

THEY ARE THE SAME EXACT WORD WITH THE SAME EXACT WORD NUMBER ATTACHED ... the same one - satan the devil ...

Of course you would have to look into intalinears and such to see that much as Strongs don't go to deep ...

Do you really know whom you worship???

Peace;

If you look at the whole picture..this life and eternity, this life is a sand grain compared to all the sand granules on all the beaches of the world as far as time. What good are rewards, pleasures for this tiny period of time, compared to forever and ever rewards and joy with Our Lord in perfect paradise? This life's speck of time is nothing if it doesn't lead to eternal joy. God bless

Yes. It is spiritual emptiness. Only those of us who have a personal relationship with God know what it means not to have Him walking with us. I would not go back to my "before God" time for anything and I feel a great sadness for anyone who has not experienced the presence of God in their lives. Sorry I can't give you a better answer but like I said...you have to experience it to understand.

I say NO, yet life is meaningless without knowing Jesus as your savior and best friend. Yet serving him adds joy and meaning even when some are mean to you because as he said "If they hate me they will hate you too."

and this is how I came to know Jesus through it all and rejecting the words of Jesus as born a Jew=Jesus said will bring curses for adding to his words when he closed the Word of God forever=Revelation 22
millions know Jesus personally -they chose not to be deluded.

I am born a Jew taught to reject Jesus too -now he is my savior and best friend.

Isaiah predicted perfectly="Unto us a child will be born, a son given and he will be the mighty God and the prince of peace." Isaiah 9:6

maybe its time for you to check it out

and his promise spoken from heaven=Revelation 1:1&3:19&20 "I love you and knock on your hearts door to come in when you repent from sin and ask me in to be your friend."

so i prayed "Jesus i am sorry for my sins come into my heart and help me by my friend, amen."

worked for me -now I am no longer under the delusion of rejecting Jesus-he is my best friend. The day i reject Jesus I am told I will be put back into our families rich Jewish will. But I told my mom, I cant take Jesus out of my heart, but even if I could I wouldnt do it.

praying for you and best wishes too, David
