Maybe I should define the connection better. I have heard a lot of people say that the reason the Sabbath was changed to Sunday was to honor the Resurrection of Jesus. I was just pointing out that baptism does that....the death, burial and start of new life with Jesus....so there would be no need to change the day of worship also. I cannot find anywhere in the Bible where there are instructions to change God's holy day to Sunday.

Yes, the sabbath is on Saturday not Sunday. It was changed by some gentiles when the Church was made up mostly of gentiles. It was not right, but the principle still stands :

14 You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant.

Exodus 31:14-16 (also see Isaiah 56:1-8)

So if you keep it on Friday, Saturday,or Sunday the principle stands rest from work and meditation on things of G-d.

The sabbath was actually changed to Sunday by non-christians. I'm not sure exactly who, maybe Cesar, pagans, I don't know. I've read it somewhere.

But anyway, the only thing that really matters is that we set aside 1 day of the week for the Lord.

THe sabbath was not changed it is still Saturday. THe disciples gathered on Sunday but the sabbath was still Saturday. Sunday was implemented by the early church, it was a way to separate the Jews. A bad time for Christ it was.

Hi, Bethybug:

A better question might be: If ressurection and Penecost Sunday was typified in the Old Testament Firstfruits and Pentecost, and thus nailed to the cross, then why do Christians keep something that was abolished?

The Sabbath day will never need to be changed.
God defined it at the 7th day of the week.

What has changed is the traditional day of the week that people gather together to worship God.

To the Christians in the spirit where THE LORD JESUS CHRIST is the ONE WHO breaches the walls of divisions and walls of hostilities, sabbath day is a day to day sabbath. It is because the salvation of THE LORD GOD will never end and HIS righteousness will last forever.

I don't see the connection.

Are you saying that one can only be baptized on the Sabbath?
