I personally prefer rock praise - woot!

It seems that most of us younger people almost NEED rock, whereas the older generation prefers more 'traditional'- or 'sacred'- music. As a singer/bass player in our worship services, this is a very passionate topic for my husband and I. Younger people seem to not even tolerate traditional music and older people don't tolerate the rock music, with a handful in the middle who is o.k. with a mix-up of both. So... what to do? It seems that everybody is unhappy.

When churches stick to traditional only, they are selfishly leaving out the youth's needs, and vice versa. That is when you find churches with hardly any youth, or elders, and the church, as a body of Christ, needs both to function fully. I think the bottom line is for us to live like Christ and to be selfless in worship and to think of others - especially newcomers - and what music they would need to meet with God in.

Provinding they are of equal skill and dedication, I vote for the praise band.

The pipe organ was kickin' in its day, when it had radical Christian composers like Bach writing the music.

But today, give me a praise band with modern instruments. Seven people jammin' for the Lord beats out an organ solo.

There are exceptions. I have heard praise bands where they forgot how to make a joyful noise, just as some organists would sound more at home in a ballpark than at church.

Lots of churches have rock praise bands.

Not many have Pipe Organs.

So I'll go with the Pipe Organ, but if I were building a new church building I would not spend money on a Pipe Organ.

I love to listen to them but they are just not cost effective.

I prefer the rock band providing I can understand the lyrics. Although much of the organ type music is beautiful, I sense a deeper meaning in most of the more modern stuff. Age 64.

Neither....I want a Southern Gospel service with people who are not afraid to raise their hands and praise the Lord. Who are not ashamed to cry or clap their hands to the music. I want a Church where you know you have been in the presence of God. I want an altar call....I want people hugging me and me hugging them back because they happy to see me...I want people who will pray for me when I"m down, even if I don't ask..I want prayer for healing with the anointing of oil...I want a Pentacostal atmosphere where the Holy Ghost and speaking in tongues is welcome...That's what I want.

I don't want a service that could pass for a rock concert with people dressed in way too little.....and on the other hand,,,I don't want a funereal service atmosphere...that is the worst one of all....

Pipe Organ. It's more versatile.
A skill organist can make that instrument rock!
While a rock band ONLY rocks.

Organ song. Gregorian chant or sacred polyphony if no organ is attainable. no longer that i think of compliment band song is undesirable, I merely don't sense it particularly is suited for use interior the church provider itself. To me, it particularly is merely too lots based on the traditional secular song you are able to hear on any radio station at any given time. It would not seem to assist placed across the spirituality or seriousness of a church provider. To Theophilus - There are nevertheless lots of people who hear to and play organ song right this moment - the two interior and out of doorways of church centers. there have been and nevertheless are many fantastic composers of organ song. seek youtube for "church organ" (maximum are in church homes and are used for stay shows) and you will see 1000's of organ works. EDIT: back to Theo - I fail to make certain how this video you chanced on makes your factor. In my unique remark to you, i became merely retaining that the device you seem to have relegated to antiquity continues to be alive and properly. If something, the video proves that think approximately that - (a) the organist seems extremely youthful, hence there's a sparkling technology of persons who ought to strengthen into organists, (b) the medley he performed became usually contemporary song, in spite of the undeniable fact that no longer composed for organ, somebody could desire to have made the affiliation he performed, (c) there is an objective industry, people nevertheless pass to organ stay shows, and (d) organists have a humorousness - what an exciting medley he performed. :) Your remark approximately no longer permitting particular gadgets in church centers must be taken yet in any different case. in spite of the actuality that it ought to alienate people who play particular gadgets, i've got seen congregations alienated while a church switches song formats. It would not look honest to the two social gathering in touch, and that i do no longer think of there is often an undemanding answer if the that arises. back to the unique question - my own decision is organ song, it particularly is what i'm comfortable with, and that i carry no animosity in the direction of compliment bands or the persons who savor them, if that's what they like. Seeing extra people in church is often a good factor, no count number what the song.
