I don't know if this is normal but, my guinea pig likes to take a piece of bedding (usually a larger piece) and smacks it against the bars. Is this just his way of curing boredom or searching for attention? He's making a larger mess than usual. I don't mind but he gets pieces stuck in the cage bars and makes a huge mess.

Sounds like he's playing. We just adopted a guinea pig from a rescue & he's really playful-- he tries to knock his water bottle around & plays with everything in his cage.
Your pig very likely wants your attention, as well. Does he have toys & other things to occupy his time when you're not with him? Although Super Pet & other companies make several different toys for small animals, toys don't have to be fancy or expensive. Your guy will probably enjoy anything he can explore, knock around or chew on.

He is wanting some more attention. My first pig would squeal when you moved and when he wanted food and when he wanted to play. He and my cat were the best of friends and would chase each other all over the house. I go with the others more toys and love.

This is either just a way to occupy time,or it might be removing soiled bedding, . If the stacked bedding is soiled, just change it more often. If not, make sure you have a good wheel, chew sticks, something to play with, and maby a little house to hide in!

He's just playing. My boys play with things and hit their pigloo with them, just to make noise. Hang a bird toy with a bell in their cage, he might start hitting the bell instead. Makes noise, but won't make a mess.

That is probably normal. i think that you should get it something to play with and hold it more often. It is most likley just bored.
