Being a true christian, I have much difficulty comprehending that anyone can be an atheist, but I cannot judge someone's heart and therefore believe what they claim they are. God bless

All of the atheists I've known fell pretty much into one of two camps. (But be leery of false dichotomies, heh...)
The first type are the "rationalist" atheists, who just can't embrace a concept of God because they don't trust anything that can't be quantified, explained and justified. (You'll meet a disproportionate number of this kind on here, because they love to debate their well-thought out points.)
The second type are the ones who just can't accept that there could be any higher power, let alone a loving one, behind a world that has pummeled them with so much hurt and brokenness.
While I enjoy hearing from the first type, it's the second that really have the more powerful argument.
Peace to you.

That's how God planned it.
Proverbs 16:4 The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble.
Romans 9:14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Absolutely not! 15 For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion."
16 So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God who shows mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very thing I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be proclaimed in all the earth." 18 So then He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.
19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has ever resisted His will?"
20 But indeed, O man, who are you to be answering back against God? Surely the thing formed will not say to him who formed it, "Why did you made me like this?" 21 Or does not the potter have authority over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and the other for dishonor? 22 But what if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make known His power, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath having been prepared for destruction, 23 and so that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us whom He called, not only of the Jews, but also of the Gentiles?

Hmmm? To fulfill this prophecy?
"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ....false accusers,....fierce,despisers of them that are good,....traitors, ,....lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God,.......ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of Truth".( II Tim. 3:1-7)
