I call them "sin sniffers"....those who always point out someone else's sin but can't see b/c of the speck in their own eye.
Like Scripture says :Judge not so not to be judged.
Our Father will measure to us the same amount of mercy we've measured out to others.
It's like the guy who was forgiven his debt but put in jail the one who owed him.
God has forgiven us much so we should forgive much.
Do we really want God to judge us the way we judge others? I think not.
Now...if we see a brother or sister sinning, yes we are to approach them b/c we are held accountable to God. Approaching them in a loving manner is a hard task but we must do it.

Because of God's word, Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Christians are expected to be perfect because God both expects it and demands it. Jesus told the woman caught in adultry to "go and sin no more." Do you think He told her to do something He knew was impossible? The Rich Young Ruler told Jesus he kept the commandments from his youth; Jesus did not say --- 'Nobody has ever done that you are a liar.' Rather, knowing what he said was true, Jesus, the Scriputure says, loved him and offered him a place among the apostles. What is perfection? It must be in the spirit and can never be in the flesh. (This is critical. Perfection is not a not doing). All you have done if you stop smoking is drop a symptom of sin and not the position of sin. Once you get yourself separated from the world position, and know in your heart that God is able, the sins drop away. (Romans 8:10-15) Perfection is living in the perfection of Jesus Christ and not your own. Those who are attempting to be finished with smoking, wine, women and song, etc., are still working to earn salvation whether they realize it or not. The harder you try the more you are drawn; and the draw is worse now then at any time in human history. This is a great added battle in the spirit for those who are called of God. Certainly people are human and people struggle and we are a work in progress. Still we should not be struggling with the symptoms of sin. I suggest, short of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that every Christian struggle to submit his or her entire life. Do not concentrate on a symptom at a time. Concentrate on the fruits of love, joy, peace, etc. The chief sin is unbelief, thinking that God is not able. Is there something God cannot do? Yes there is! God cannot command the impossible and He commands perfection. If you have a problem face up to the fact that you cannot handle it - period. My general prayer with regard to desire is, "Lord I cannot do this. You take care of it." And he does. He takes care of it at physical, mental and spiritual levels but the physical and mental is really minor. One minor but real urge to smoke for me tied to sugar consumption. The mental tie can be related to positive or negative stress connected to work or some social situation; or simply not dismissing the act from your mind after God has removed the desire.

I couldn't get past the statement that Christians "shoot their own wounded"---what the heck? I was a Christian for many years and I can tell you that (according to the Bible) adultry is a sin, killing is a sin, fornication is a sin, cheating on your wife/husband is a sin, lying (which goes with cheating) is a sin-- again, according to the Bible.----- But I wouldn't turn my back on a friend that's in trouble, whatever their religious belifs.----- Still, we do create our own problems when we indulge in sexual freedoms sometimes! Those are things we deal with as consequences of our lack of control and carelessness. No judgement is necessary---Blessings!

I think partly because back in the day that was how Christians portrayed themselves. I also think it was easier back then to not be as tempted. But we are not perfect, per God, and that means that we will make mistakes. That was why God gave us standards to live by. But it today's culture, that is anything but easy.
When I screw up and people know about it, I always say "I go to church because I am not perfect, not because I am. If I didn't screw up, I wouldn't need God!"

Unfortunately Christians tend to shoot their wounded. When the whole time we should be helping them and encouraging them to do better the next time. Yes, we all fall but the line needs to be drawn somewhere.
If a brother or sister in the Lord continues to live in blatant, open sin, we should, by all means, approach them. NOT in condemnation but in love.

I think people that are not happy with their own choices look for someone else to throw the limelight on. In psychology class we learned about projection. It showed a cartoon of a fat lady sitting at a table with a friend in an ice cream shop. Another lady comes in and sits down at the snack bar. First lady pokes her friend and says, "No wonder she is so fat, she is always in here". Very often the flaws we see in others are really our own. Once we connect with God He will slowly and in perfect timing let us see our own faults so we can work on them and be in awe and wonder that He still loves us anyway. Mmm

Some Christians are perfect as God calls them to be. All have sinned but all do not have to continue in sin. Holiness is when you immediately ask for forgiveness when you sin, and choosing not to sin.

Many years ago I heard Mike Warnkie (a Christian Comedian) say that the mighty army of God spends the majority of their time polishing their armor or fighting one another
How like life...That's why we were told to get the beam out of our own eye before helping get the splinter out of our brother's eye....that's our brother (or sister) not the neighbor....part of the family. That's also how they will know we are Christians when we truly LOVE one another.

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
2 Timothy 3:16-17
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"
Ephesians 4:11-13

Looking for a perfect example? Yet when that one falls short and are let down; by them putting them up on a pedestal...then the shock or reality comes in..in short I will have nothing to do with that.
