Baptist believe in salvation thru Jesus Christ and him alone. They believe you can not lose your salvation once saved. The Lord's supper and Baptism are a church ordinance. They believe in sending missionaries to start churches. They believe in the Trinity. Baptism adds you to the church and is a public confession of you dying to your old self.

It's someone who believes in baptism as a Christian, being immersed in water in an identification with Jesus Christ.
As Jesus died and was raised up, the believer is put under the water and raised up again, symbolic of the new life in Christ Jesus.

Some Baptists believe that Baptism is a requirement for salvation. Others do not. In either case, Baptism is something that Jesus promoted for all who believe in Him.
