To start with I would suggest to make the visits at the prescribed hours. suddenly you will see a far better attitude from the nursing home personnel. Let us face it, it is a lousy job, eroically performed in the midst of mostly suffering people. It gets very hard to have an heart full of joy and civility considering the stress under which they have to do the unrewording job. I have a lot of admiration for them for being able to do a fantastic job considering. I would'nt have what it takes to do that job. Would you? How about thanking some of them with a smile sometime? They are human too.

Sorry you have had bad experiences but not all nursing homes or State hospitals have bad employees. But I have heard of some nursing homes that treat their patients like crap! I just don't understand how or why they can do this.

Part of the problem is the low wages paid. But I have also found some excellent care. Cook County Hospital is one of the best county hospitals and is tops as a teaching hospital. So I guess maybe it depends on who is in charge.

Because they probably have a lot of problems concerning their family and pay. Most likely they immigrated from a different country expecting the american dream, but they realize that its not that easy--especially when they have kids. So they end up being very bitter and very angry at life, therefore venting their anger to the people they see everyday: the people they see at the hopital/nursing home.

Most of them don`t do anything anyway to help the patients. My Father was in the V.A. Nursing home and was robbed of food and money and we feel he was beaten several times .
They always said he fell out of bed .I have to admit when he had dementia ,his racism came out .
You are right though ,they all look like they have police records .
