i have a question about the minimum a person can weigh in order to enlist. i am a female i'm 5'8" and i weigh 114lbs. the minimum weight for my height is 125lbs. do i have to meet the minimum weight to get on DEP or is it just to leave for boot. i also read that if you are within 5% of the minimum weight you can still go to boot you will just receive double portions for meals. is this true?

The military has this great thing called "Waivers". you can get them if you have arrests or other troubles. Talk to your recruiter, and chances are once you start working out; you should put on some muscle weight. Remember, muscle wieghs more than fat, bulk up if you need to put on pounds.
they should let you in without much trouble.

Well the double rations is true for the Marine Corps... what branch are you talking about? Minimum weight is just to leave for bootcamp... at least in the Marine Corps it is.

You must be reading the wrong scale, 114 lbs for a 5 8" female really isn't under weight. I know female soldiers around that height that weigh around 100, so I'd say check your sources.

Your reading the male weight scale. I'm 5'7" male and I can drop to 111 pounds. Not possible, but I could and still be within the limits
You can actually be fat like most female soldiers, they just raised the body fat standard for them.
Look in AR 600-9 for help

Thank for offering to serve our country. I know you're curious and want to know the answer, but I hope you have a reliable recruiter you can call to ask all of your questions to. Your recruiter is the only person who can tell you the correct answer.
Personnel policies change over time, and what might have been correct 5 years ago, might not be now. Ask your recruiter. It's his/her job to know.
Thank you again.
