No, you are prohibited from possesing firearms.

Each time we qualitfy with weapons we are required to complete DD Form 2760, if one has a domestic violence conviction they can not be issued a weapon...if you can not arm then you are no good to the military...

The “Lautenberg Amendment” to the 1968 Gun Control Act makes it a felony for such soldiers to possess firearms. Further, the Lautenberg Amendment makes it a felony to issue a weapon to a soldier with such a conviction. Therefore they are barred from service.

There is only one type of job in the military that does not carry a weapon and that is a Chaplain.

If its not a felony, you should be good to go. It is possible you may not be allowed to handle firearms, but there are plenty of jobs in the Army that don't require the regular carrying of firearms. And if you went to a war zone that rule goes out the window!

It depends on how badly they need soldiers. Seeing as it is a time of war I am sure they will overlook it. I know people with assaults, and worse on their records that are in the Army. Good luck to you!

Sure. The military is short of volunteers, they have lowered the standards and are accepting criminals.
