the war is in a indeterminate fluid state. what i mean is one day we have great success's and nab an IED maker or trigger man, the next youll here about a suicide bomber that blew up 100 people in some market. i would like to point out that to a soldier there is no diffrence between a war and a conflict just because its a conflict doesnt mean a bullet or a IED wont make you dead
what i can tell you is this war has certinatly improved the lot in life for the kurds. also some areas are safe and i would consider walking in those. (and im not talking about the green zone)
one of the hard things in this "war" is targeting the enemy, 1 the population is scared. 2) the enemy melds into the population after there attack, and they move from area to area when CF go to conduct large operations to root them out
it makes it hard but the worst thing to do would be pull out before our JOB is done. ive lost to many friends and comrades to see there sacrifice wasted before this country is self goverend and stable

We won the war in Iraq. We toppled a dictatorship which killed its citizens because of political and religious affiliation. As an American service member who has recently returned from the Gulf region, be assured that most of Iraq is on our side. Sure, they have problems but don't we all? The average Iraqi wants exactly what the average American wants, to go to work, for their kids to get an education, to come home at night for dinner, with their family, and go to sleep in a safe bed only to wake up again and do it all again. The difference is that they cannot do this safely because of the insurgency. But we are finally seeing the Iraqi citizens turning in the insurgents before they cause harm. If we can secure the boarders and help the fledgling democracy to get on its feet we will have succeeded in our mission. We cannot leave Iraq now, if we leave now every American and Iraqi life lost will have been in vein. The government will fail and it will once again become a hotbed for tyranny and terrorism (only causing us to go back again, imagine what would have happened if we had finished the job under Bush Senior...). Once Iraq is a strong and independent democracy capable of defending her own boarders we will be able to move on. And to those calling for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq I ask, what about our troops still stationed in Germany and Japan after WWII, and Korea since the Korean war? Why are we not worried about bringing those soldiers home? If you are going to be an isolationist, you must be complete in your ideology!

First of all we were never at war with Iraq. But the reason we are at war IN Iraq keeps changing. And right now I have no clue who we are fighting. However whoever we are fighting is winning. That's for sure!

winning ? euh has it not yet ended ? what U.S is doing now in Iraq isn't war..it just plain wasting of time and soldiers lives...there's nothing left to gain from there..Saddams Dead..sure there's oil if thats what they always wanted and already have..only thing goin on is suicide bombers trying to take intruders out of there country..think about if some1 terrorise your country kills innocent people for no good reason does a carpet bombing ..will u be pissed off ? and try to kill as many of them..i think U.S should just withdraw all they're troops they're wasting time AND OUR MONEY WE PAY TAXES that are being wasted and the economy is in a terrible shape..and our debts are increasing gradually...what he should be focusing is the problem inside U.S millions of troubles going on we should invest in our own country first...war and terrorism and extra prisons won't help at all this will only give us THE FEELING ...THE ILLUSION of being safe !

The conflict was determined to be over in the first year of the war. Now we're just 'peace keeping,' or trying to negotiate between two factions in 'sectarian conflict.' (Or Civil War)

THERE IS NO VICTORY IN A WAR, (this war or any war for that matter) BUT IT'S NEVER TOO LATE FOR PEACE. The only victory is the "joy" of the side who has the least dead sons.

Everyday on the Television we hear how many more of U.S troops have lost their lives due to the war. My personal opionion is that it is bascially a wash, no one is winning. They do not even know how to run their new government that we helped them set up. I think we should cut our losts and leave them be because no one is winning
