Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
However; The beauty of the temple is not the outside but it is the inside.
Inside are eternal promises, eternal marriage, salvation for those who -- in life never had a chance to hear the Name Jesus Christ, let alone being able to accept Him.
Ah the LDS temples are an oasis on this Earth we live on and no matter how you frame a question -- this will always be true

They are beautiful works of architecture. Were you aware that there is no mortar in the Salt Lake City temple? Each block of granite was cut to fit exactly to the ones next to it. Nothing ominous about them. They are quite beautiful when lit at night and bathed in the white light, like a beacon to God.
Go to the official church website and you can see pictures of the inside. Also, quite beautiful! The link I have included shows ALL of them we have around the world, not just in Utah. You could even find pics of the inside on there.

If you get a chance, go to an open house. Before a temple is dedicated or rededicated, its open to the public to take a tour of it. You should go and check it out. I could tell you all day that they aren't creepy, but the best way is for you to find out for yourself that they aren't creepy.

Ornate temples have been around since priests extorted the faithful, and when you got 'deep pockets', you can build just about anything. Even the new christian megachurches sort of look like shopping malls. Mormon temples reflect a lot of Roman Gothic architecture in the early ones, but their current appearance reminds me of the building in Lehi's Dream.
I think the architects want to impress the GAs with excess and exclusivity when all they really need is a chapel without a basketball court or seating for 300. They've become pimped Hummers with spires. I don't think god is all that impressed.

LDS Temples are very interesting places and among the most architecturally beautiful buildings on Earth. It's what happens within the Temples that would freak you out. See Richard Packham's site for more info.

LDS Temples are beautiful and built to suit the area.
I have been to 2 in Australia. The one in Melbourne is quite small and simple yet I just look at it and it fills me with quiet and peace.
Maybe the mystery makes it appear 'creepy'.

They are BEAUTIFUL and sacred, I don't know how anyone could considered it creepy. I love to go to the DC Temple which is the closest to me, it is beautiful like all the other temples, they all have unique designs and they are all built under the guidance of our Heavenly Father. It is a place to worship him, get closer to him, have endowments and sealings. Everything there is beautiful. They have beautiful gardens too. I love them all but the one I like the most is the Salt Lake City temple, it looks like a fairy tale castle ^_^

It has to be the secrecy in which they are cloaked and the occult symbols on the temple that give it the sinister look.

I have done babtisms for the dead in one, never saw any people come and thank me for the babtism (they see dead people in them temples). I got to walk thru the Jordon River temple befopre it was dedicated and wave the hankershif, can;t remember what the waving thing was for. I remember the mirrors that went forever, that was cool. They care just into freemason rituals and angel worship (angel moroni) ex-mormon,

They are temples dedicated to satan. That is why they look ominous and creepy. They practice a lot of freemasonry rituals in them. Plus why would you want to got in one? You have to wear temple underwear.
