I think is the condiments and seasoning that actually make it taste the way it does.

Whatever you cook, you have to season. In most cases, anyway. Everything has its own special flavor. Meat has a great flavor. But, if you want a better tasting meat. salt and pepper reallys brings the flavor of the meat out. Salt, is a flavor enhancer. It brings the flavor in whatever food you use it on. Try it on tomatoes, pineapple or mangos. In terms of meat, you have to season it. It makes all the difference. Happy eating!

I love some meat on its own - without seasonings. But some meats really need seasonings to bring out a better flavor.

If you are preparing expensive cuts of meat such as prime rib, new york strips, sirloin, rib eyes or filets, the grade should be choice or prime which means there will be enough marbling in the meat to make it flavorful and tender without one thing added to it. Also, aging adds flavor and tenderness. However, there are the cheaper cuts of beef that will require seasoning because they are choice grade and not very flavorful and also will need some kind of tenderizing such as marinating. Other meats like poultry and most cuts of pork don't have that much flavor, so seasoning is required to enjoy it.

I'm one of those people that usually only put salt on their meat, if anything.

Yes, if someone else makes the meat, and marinates it or whatever, I'll eat it, but I personally won't do that.

It also depends on the meat. Chicken, for example, needs some help, because on its own it doesn't taste like much. But if you're making something like beef roast, you won't normally need to add anything because it has a flavor that doesn't need any assistance.

Meat needs some seasoning .Not necessarily just salt and pepper. But herbs and spices such as garlic.Without any flavoring it's bland.

I think it needs salt, but that's abaout it. I'm sure if I followed a low sodium diet and my taste buds changed, I wouldnt' even need the salt.
