NO matter WHO, or WHAT you are...
God is the only one who knows what is
in your heart...and I don't believe that all
the Christians know all the answers...We
are also going by what we have been told..
The bottom line here is faith..
Faith that something better is waiting for you
Faith that no matter what you believe or have done in the past, will make any difference to him in the end..
We are all HIS children...and that's all
THAT COUNTS HERE.

This sort of begs the question, what kind of child are you that you don't at least thoroughly investigate the possibility that your father is not dead, as you've been lead to believe? If I'd spent all my life believing that my father was dead, and then someone told me he was really alive, I would at the very least follow up on that lead with every resource at my disposal. I might be hesitant to contact him, but I'd want to try and figure out the truth. That goes double if I'm heading toward an event (i.e. death) where I WILL meet him if he is in fact still living. The last thing I'd want would be to meet my father and have to tell him that I never cared to find out what really happened to him. That would be just *horrible*.
Incidentally, not all Christians think atheists all have a one-way ticket to Hell. It's God's decision what happens to us after we die, and I would not presume to make that decision for anyone. Whether you are rewarded for good behavior or sent to a permanent time-out is entirely between you and "Dad."

God is the perfect Father, but not everyone is His child. Only the ones that believe in Jesus Christ are God's adopted children. The rest are the children of Satan according to Jesus in John 8:41-47. God shows everyone that He is real at one time or another on this Earth. However, not everyone responds favorably, and if you tell God to leave you alone, then He will eventually get the hint and leave you alone. That's really not a fun place to be in, here on Earth, or in hell.

A lot of good points in your question. However, God works on a different plane than us. When you choose not to believe that He sent His only son to die a painful, merciless, and unbearable death just so we can be saved, it upsets Him. Thus, there must be a punishment for disobeying. Just like any Father or Mother would. Why He chose Hell and is His thought and choice alone. I do not choose to question God, just Love Him and accept Him. I am not smart enough or clever enough to know His mind and His plans. Thanks and have a great day!

I think if you examine all the major religions of the world, you will find a common thread. I believe in one God, and these are all different hands of the same being. I would never condemn any person to hell, it is not for me to judge. I think that when the time comes for judgment, it will be your deeds, and not proclamations that determine your fate. Personally, I have had an experience that leads me to believe that there is a God, I spent half my life as an Atheist, and am now a Catholic.

A more appropriate question for a scenario like this one is even though a son denies his father's existence his entire life, would a loving father not give his son what he wants?
It's obvious that a loving father would give his son whatever he fervently desired, and in the case of this particular son, his life and his desire to not believe in his fathers existance has shown his father that what he really wants is to have nothing to do with his father.
Because God loves his children and wants them to have what they truly desire, He, in this case, gives his son the fatherless existence he's always wanted in the only place where God doesn't go, and that is hell.
So you see there's really no contradiction at all, and the eternal condemnation to hell is a result of God's love for those who want to live without him.

This is really the last time I answer this type of question that is asked at least 20 times a week.
Any Christian that says you are going to hell because you don't believe in God is simply misinformed. The Bible is crystal clear in that SIN and SIN alone is the reason you will go to hell. It is not possible for a human to live their entire life without sinning. Only one man was able to do it, and it just so happens He was God. So unless you are God's only begotten, you have sinned, and are in danger of going to hell.

I notice that you pick and choose from different points of view for which you do not give any references, nor do you give one Bible verse to support any of your question or answer.
What your supposed "most Christians" think is not the definition of Truth. What you think something is "isn't this sort of like' is not the definition of Truth. What the Bible says is the Truth.
You've asked a decent question...just not well thought out.
Christians do not believe atheists are going to hell. The Bible says all sinners who do not accept God's free gift of forgiveness/who choose to separate themselves from God will be granted what they've asked for - to be separated from God.
As to the nature of God, the Bible has a great deal to say about that - often in His own words! If you wish to know about God, He's made His words available to you. Congratulations! If you are asking about the nature of God, you're achieving the purpose of life.
May the Lord bless you and your search for the Truth.

John 12:46-48 (in full context)- I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
47And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
This means to stop closing your ears and eyes. So that you may live. God will judge when that time comes. Until then you should come to learn to walk in the light. And be happy as a new man in Christ. And if you see Him. You have seen the Father.
God bless

i truely believe that on the day that you die and face God that He will take a look at the type of life you lived while on earth. if you have led a life where you tried to harm no one and you were compassionate and caring i firmly believe that He would give you a second chance to acknowledge Him as your Father and Jesus as your Saviour. God is a caring ,compassionate ,loving Father to all of His children, even those who do not know Him .
