I think there is a flaw in your memory, but I shall find what ever is cloes.. hang on a sec..
John 14:13 Also, whatever it is that YOU ask in my name, I will do this, in order that the Father may be glorified in connection with the Son. 14 If YOU ask anything in my name, I will do it.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, no matter what it is that we ask according to his will, he hears us. 15 Further, if we know he hears us respecting whatever we are asking, we know we are to have the things asked since we have asked them of him.

Many times people promote the idea that we are to have ANYTHING for the asking, yet the scripture I reffered to in 1 John, shows that we are to have anything we ask for "according to his will".
Remember, prayers that are answered are prayers asked according to th will of God. So we must first learn what God's will is for our prayers to be answered.

Don't forget that the verse is modified by this passage.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

Prayer is useless.
Try it, and when you see it doesn't work... just remember, I told you so.
