This question has been tested in a double blind experiment.
Paired patients suffering from same kind of cancer at the same stage of metastisis are assigned to 2 different groups of people unbeknownst to the patients. The first group of people are asked to pray to god for patient A of each pair. The other group of people are asked to think good thoughts for patient B of each pair.
Result: No significant difference between patients in A or patients in B. In fact, there was a slight negative effect of prayer (though not significant) for the prayer group to patient outcome.

It is by far the work of God. I have experienced many answered prayers in my life. When I was young I pray as a child. I prayed for things, now that I am older I pray by giving thanks for the things that God gives me regardless of how small. I thank him for the things that he will do in the future and for both the good and the bad. I believe that by giving thanks for all things It takes away any foot hold that the devil may try to get by using fear. I feel that the devil looks for your weaknesses and uses them to his advantage. So if I give thanks for all things he can not gain that foot hold because I am giving God all the control and the glory

Of course it is the work of God. When we pray , we r expressing our emotions and feelings to God , and He reacts towards it . Most of the time He gives us things without we ask Him for , like food or clothes or peace or happiness or money , which rarely do i pray for.
God wants us to pray inorder to have a strong relationship with Him. When a husband helps his wife or wn a son helps his mother , is this service for the husband and the son or is it for the wife and the mother? Its for those ho asked for help. But while those helping those , those ho help grow. See, God wants us tp pray and wait till He answers only to help us grow. He cares hor us . GBU

Time, water, and the vacuous void of space all work toward change.
Nothing stands still.
Prayer changes things - like it or not.
