It is not known whether this "star" that fell from the sky is Satan, a fallen angel, Christ, or a good angel. Most likely it is a good angel because the key to the shaft of the bottomless pit is normally held by Christ (1:17-18) and it was temporarily given to this other being from heaven (see also 20:1.) This being whoever he may be is still under God's control and authority.

The star referred to in Rev 9:1 is an angel that unlocked plagues from hell, to be sent to the ends of the earth.
"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand." -- Rev 20:1 KJV

Both Satan and Jesus were referred to as the Morning Star.
Jesus, Christ.
Satan... well.. the opposite.
Jesus now sits at the right hand of God, where once upon a time Satan sat before his fall.
This "star" that you speak of in Revelations could just indicate an angel sent to do Gods work.
Revelation is heavy with metaphors. Only God knows the truth of what will happen.

The star falling from the sky is probably an angel who carries out the judgment of God, it refers to as "he" later in vs 2. THe abyss is the place of imprinsonment for demons. The beast, who is the antichrist, comes out of the abyss and Satan will be imprisoned there for one thousand years.

It was an angel. Satan does not have a key to the bottomless pit. In fact, Abaddon or in Greek Apollyon was his name.
Where do these people get their ideas?

First lets go back to the seventh seal. The seventh seal is actually seven trumpets. The first 4 trumpets are indirectly aim at humanity.
Then we read in chapter 8:13. And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
Now, the three woes, are the last three trumpets and are not directed indirectly at humanity. But, humanity is the center of the target.
Which brings us to the 5th trumpet, in Chapter 9:1-12; And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
In this passage of scripture there are three types of languages used, as well as in the entire Book of Revelation. They are as follow.
(1) Literal
(2) Figuratively
(3) Symbolic
The figuratively and symbolic langauge can be depicted by the use of the words “as” and “like”
There is a very subtle and powerful difference between the words figurative and symbol.
Now we all know what Literal is.
Figurative is when a physical object is described in the terms of another physical object.
Symbolic language is when a non-physical object is described as if it where a physical object, given to embody it. Inorder than we may understand.
For an example we will use an apple.
This is my apple. This is a literal statement.
Now, if I was to say; this apple is almost as red and shinny as my neighbors truck. This is a figurative statement. For I am implying my apple to another physical object.
Now lets look at the statement; This apple should be as the fruit of my life. Which is the fruit of the Spirit.
This is a symbolic statement.
When we read Revelation Chapter 9:1. How are we to look at it? Is it Literally, Figuratively or Symbolically? I say “Literally.”
Lets look again at Revelation 9:1; And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
First the purpose of this trumpet is to heighten mans awareness, of the “end” of the path of which they have chosen, in their rejection of Jesus Christ. This is the frist trumpet since the Woe, Woe, Woe. That was announced by an angel. When the fifth angel sounds we see a “star” fall from heaven.
In order to understand “what” this star is, we need to notice the use of the pronoun “ he” Notice it was “him” who was given the key to the bottomless pit, and it was “he” that “opened” the bottomless pit.
So, by the contents we can see that this star is not a what but a he, identifying him as a “created” being.
This is a literal statement and is not pertaining to a star, like a star that fell from space to earth.
Many times throughout scriptures angels are depicted as a stars. In Revelation Chapter 1 verse 20; The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
Which also applies to the star that lead the wise men at the birth of Jesus, and came a stood over the place where Jesus was born.
Stars also are use in reference to fallen angels as well. In Revelation Chapter 12:3, we read; And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: Here we read how One Third of the angels abandoned God and sided with and embraced Satan, the Red Dragon.
Now the scriptures tells us in Revelation 9:1 that a star fell from heaven.
However, to identify who this star actually is, the Holy Spirit, has not revealed it to us.
Just that it is an angel.
It could be Satan, or it could be an angel of God, called Abaddon, his name Apollyon, the king over the bottomless.
Nobody knows for sure! But that it is an angel

Well, if the bible is the true, LITERAL word of god... it represents a STAR!
But that's ridiculous, since stars are massive and couldn't possible "fall from the sky."
More proof that the bible is fiction.
