Orland closed for boot camp about 20 years ago. You will go to boot camp in Great Lakes Illinois. I don't think the Navy doe the go to bootcamp during the summer before your senior year program, but I know the Air Force and Army do. You are definitely over the weight standard, but 12 years ago, so was I. I worked hard, got down under the requirement and have had a great career thus far. Its allot of hard work from beginning to end, but if you are willing to get it done you will do well and succeed in a great Navy career. If you have any specific questions feel free to drop me a line, I spent 6 years enlisted before I got a commission into the Officer Corps. I've been stationed everywhere and have been everywhere else. I career in the UN Navy is one of the most rewarding a person could ask for. You are making a great choice if you have the conviction to stick to it! Good Luck!

First of all, you don't go to Navy Boot Camp over your summer vacation. That is an Army program only. You go to Navy Boot camp when you are all done with school and 18 unless both your biological parents sign off on you enlisting if you are still 17 at that point.

If you are in the DEP program with the Navy, you will go to Boot Camp after you graduate from High School and get your diploma and not before then. You can go to MEPS, do your physical, sign your Navy contract when you are 17 but you cannot be in DEP longer than 1 year before your shipping date to boot camp so you and your real recruiter will have to time it accordingly if you qualify to be in the Navy in the first place.

Based on what you wrote here, you will need to lose about 70 to 80 pounds before you can sign a Navy contract and go into DEP. IF you start some serious weight lose program now you might make it. That is a huge amount of weight ot lose. Your MAXIMUM weight to enlist in the Navy is about 170-173 for your height. Until you do that you won't be doing anything with the Navy or any of the other branches because they all have about the same weight requirements to enlist.

Also, what's up with the Airborne stuff? That's the Army. Are you sure you know what you are talking about???

you are incorrect. there is no split option for Navy training, only in the Guard and Reserves. Active duty, you go to boot camp when you graduate High School and when you leave lines up with when your A school starts.

and the Navy doesn't have the 101st Airborne.

You may also be too heavy to make standards to get in.. and you must make weight before you can ship out.

you know for your height you have to lose weight. the maximum weight that height is 181 lbs. if you're above that they will tape your measurements to determine your body fat composition. my recommendation to you is 3 things. 1 get as fit as you can. Physical Fitness Assestment standards are a little easier on females then males but things will be a little harder for you in boot camp and later in the fleet if you're not within weight standards. 2 do your research try not to be enlisted as an undesignated sailor if you can aviod it. talk to sailors, find out what jobs are availible to you. i know with some jobs the recruiters can be a little vague. 3 if you know you're not coming in as an e-3 do the PQS (personnel qualification standard) they're going to give you in DEP. so then once you leave boot camp (in chicago not orlando) you will at least be an e-2 making a little more money.

Recruiter lie as always, is requiredment for everyone comes in active or reserve first time to go to bootcamp, no need to worry, bootcamp is alot easier this day compare to my day. Hoewever one major you need to concern, is your weigh, is approx like 60-80 more than stardand, you need to start losing weight, and start work out.

You already posed this question regarding your weight and its relationship to your chances of enlisting. The regs haven't changed. The most you can weight at your age and height is 167 pounds!
