how do i get programs to run properly with windows vista????

Question

almost all programs that i try to install will download and run at first but, when i close the program there is no i-con anywere to re-open or run the program, including programs that are vista compatible, firefox,thunderbid, etc. the program folder is empty. although it is listed in the add or remove program list.any help????

Sometimes you have to create your own icon.
Click Start
cl Programs
right-click on the icon for the program you want
you should see "create shortcut"

sometimes the icon will go directly to the desktop and sometimes you have to drag it there.

If you are saying you want it to load at startup, you have to put it on the startup menu. I'm currently in XP, but Vista can't be too far off;-
click Start
Settings
Taskbar and Start Menu
click the Start Menu tab
click Customize
browse to the program you want
click Add
