OMG!
I just found this thread, and I'm flattered.
Use it or anything else I say all you want.

To those who couldn't find enough hate in it to be Christian thank you, I love Jesus and his message far to much to ever want to be mistaken for a Christian.

May God as you understand it bless you in the way you would find most excellent, even if you hate everything I am.

Blessed Be!

One should not assume...all is well.
Be careful with words of blessings.

If phrase said by a gnostic...to people on the positive side...
...then it just becomes a blessings...a compliments...or just a no-nonesense answer... or greetings to anybody whose life you do not know, or any situation you have no control with.
If a gnostic added talent is a spiritualist...or a psychic...then it presents as blessings, or said by messengers from God, or some kind of well wishers from God.

If the phrase said by a gnostic... to people on the negative sides...then it will pose greater problem, misunderstandings, misleading that they are under the grace of God, and whatever they want or do is in Gods will`s range.
God teaches the covenant for people to follow what He wants, not what His creation think & feel about... and thought it is what God wants.

God provides wisdom and reveals Himself... to His worthy citizens. So, anybody cannot assume nor pressume God is connecting and guiding everybody`s thought, life, needs, dreams & ambitions.

To the authority in this field...be careful in saying things... about God.

Witness, "The Road to Damnation and the road to salvation, are one and the same" words you should consider. Make sure that you really DO know which way your'e going.

If I may be so bold, I found it nauseatingly politically correct, which is about the LAST thing that you want in any sort of meaningful Christian message. Christ pulled no punches with the truth; e.g., "I am the truth, the life, and the way. No one comes to the father except by me." Allow me to explain why I hated the line so:

1. May God as you understand ... it?

A) God's an it?!?!?!?! While no Christian REALLY believes that God is a "Him," per se, as in a human him, we see through Bible study that anthropomorphism is used to HELP US to understand God "the father," God the mysterious being personified. This glib answer says in effect ... sure, sure, God Himself chose to personify Himself but I choose to make Him an "it." A booger is an it. A pimple is an it. God is an it in this "living, tolerant and respectful" line. No on my watch!

B) The Bible is THE common reference manual on God so that we ALL understand Him the same way. Yet I run into COUNTLESS people who just make stuff up. They say things like, "I imagine God as a cloud." Or "I see God as a flower." Or whatever. The point is that this PC line suggests that any and all understandings of God are equally relevant and that is simply not true.

2. One of the overarching messages of the Bible is our struggle between what WE want and what God wants for us. It is not unlike the struggle we face as parents with our own children. My kids want to stay up half the night, while I want them to get a good night's sleep. My kids want to eat sugar, sugar, sugar, while I want them to eat healthy foods. My kids want to play video games all day, while I want them to go outside and play, get some exercise, be kids! Now, if I was to "bless" my kids in a way that they would find "most excellent" then it would be with them getting their way. That's the same with people! We battle God, pitting OUR will against His! Again and again we are reminded that God wants what is BEST for us, NOT what we want for ourselves. Just look at the stuff everyday people seek:

1. Drugs, even if it means stealing money to get them, killing people to get them, or prostituting ourselves
2. Sex, even if it means risking venereal diseases, rape, robbery, and unwanted pregnancy
3. Money, even if it means killing people to get it, robbing a bank, defrauding the government, or prostituting ourselves.

Do you realize that on any given day someone could be shooting some AWESOME heroine and very possibly would consider that a most excellent blessing from God. Do you think it--er, I mean HE--would "bless" someone with a drug score or a great bank robbery haul? But those are the sorts of things that make people happy!

3. YOUR way of praising this answer got me almost as much as the line itself. You find it "tolerant"? That's a word right out of PC-speech!!! Those who say to FORGET the Bible's stance on homosexuality as sin--that's INTOLERANT!--and instead embrace it as an "alternative lifestyle" are called ... called ... I hope I can get this out ... tolerant. Gag!

There is NOTHING loving, tolerant, or respectful about obfuscating the facts to serve an agenda--ANY agenda.

It's a good clear way of encompassing the sentiment of pangelosity I think. I might stick with Dave Allen's slightly more basic version for now though: "Good night, and may your god go with you".

Yes it is, and I think it will suit you.
enjoy.
As for those who gave negative comments and call it too sentimental, I would much rather read your comments with your positive view than their negative ones.
Live and enjoy life, may your spirit spread.
