If it bothers you to be stared at....law enforcement isn't for you. Don't go into your job....whatever it maybe......thinking that someone is going to flirt with you or hit on you. Who cares???? If you are beautiful.....Im sure you are used to this.....but even the prettiest thing in the office can have a bad attitude and nobody....male or female....will want to be near you much less flirt. I have worked in law enforcement for a long time.....in order to have a good working relationship with people that you work with...you have to take the good with the bad. Most departments have a certain "brotherhood" and to be a part of that you have to earn the respect of your co-workers. Most people playfully flirt.....it's just something that is done....don't take offense...be happy because if they didnt like you...they wouldn't have anything to do with you.

Didn't really like the question... but I am going to try to help you out.... You don't say how old you are, so I am going to assume you are young. How you look as an officer should not matter! I have been a cop 8 years and I am definitely not ugly. As far as flirting and being hit on, it happens in all lines of work. You will have to deal with it. The guys I work with flirt all the time but do not cross the line as I am one of them and have earned their respect. The girls and I are close no matter who is "pretty" and who isn't. I am flattered when someone thinks I am good looking. I work hard to present an attractive professional appearance. It can help with confessions! lolol. There will always be people who will like or dislike you. Looks won't really change that. If you have a conceited attitude you are screwed! I would look for a different type of work if I were you.

Don't worry about it. There are stupid people in all professions. Policing is no different. I spent 10 years in the Army and am trying to get into policing myself. The military is much like a P.D. and it's how you deal with it and what you allow. If you stop it early, it shouldn't be a problem. The problem is if you get off to a start of letting things go. Then people will expect it. Set ground rules early, and you'll be OK.

anywhere you work, there will always someone full of testosterone to flirt women with looks, but if you are exceedingly beautiful, most would be scared not qualifying to imaginary standards, just everywhere women work, should know their women's rights and slam them on this male colleagues, surely they won't jeopardize their career for flirting.
i've been with co workers who are exceedingly pretty, but being with them always will someday be as ordinary ones. Your behaviors would give them away.

Police work is not a good job to be in if you are very sensitive to things like that.
You have to allow comments to just roll off from both the citizens you are working with and both male & female co-wokers.
And if you can't handle stares, police work is DEFINITELY not the job for you.

No matter where you work, if you are attractive you will be flirted with. The police force is no different.
They are sleep with each other - once they have done the whole force or most of it, they move on.
Male police officers sleep with nurses and the female officers sleep with criminals.
You may think you are attractive but maybe you are dillusional and you aren't really all that so maybe you won't get flirted with or even spoken to regarding anything other than work.. go on, give work a chance.. stop making excuses to the jobcentre about why you cant work, get off benefits and take a risk...

I think it comes down to whether you are effective, professional, and educated in your profession. Of course, looks are always going to play a role in all areas of life, however, it seems that more often than not it's based on your competency.
I agree with Blue Steel & Lace. If you are sensitive to anything than law enforcement is definitely not the right career choice.
Best of luck to you and your future career.

many male cops (not all but many) are the jocks and bully-assholes you recall from your high school days. With plenty of testosterone flowing around you, you are bound to have problems with it, unless that's what you are looking for.
Very attractive women have to deal with office advances no matter where they go. And there will always be a line between flirting, dating, and sexual harassment.
Generally it is easier for attractive women to land jobs. Advancement I am not so sure about, but I think they depends on how dumb you act and lots of other factors.
The reality is that in some corporate environments a pretty woman who sleeps around within the office will be rewarded for her services. Hope your not one of those, because the people you sleep with may appreciate you, but everybody else will hate your guts.
I recall quite vividly one woman I used to work with (who was not even super good-looking) who was a corporate bed-hopper - people in the office referred to her as the Corporate S lut. And boy did she earn the title!
