Hey, those books have helped my children learn and love to read. I am getting it. Also planning on getting the DVD's when they are finished reading them.
As for those who think that it is evil and will lead them astray, I would suggest that your faith isn't that strong to start with. These, like the Da Vinci Code, are works of fiction and provide nothing more than pure entertainment.

to assert that Harry Potter is faulty for Christians is to assert that each and every fantasy e book is faulty for Christians. meaning goodbye C. S. Lewis and The Chronicles of Narnia, which he wrote based off of the Christian faith. in simple terms because of the fact it is not available in genuine life or is approximately witchcraft does not advise it is sinful to study it. there are countless comments in the Bible approximately witchcraft. (have you ever study the story in II Samuel the place Saul has a witch advance the ghost of Samuel from the ineffective?) yet does it make it sinful to study those sections? No! practising witchcraft is a sin. A Christian analyzing Harry Potter because of the fact is a fabulous fantasy e book does not make you a witch or wizard as much as a Christian analyzing a e book on Islam makes him a Muslim.

I will not be buying the Harry Potter book...mainly because...it is boring.....I have seen the movies and can see what children like about the movie...it is full of fantasy. When I was a kid...I loved all the Disney stories....now that I am older and know better....It is kinda boring. Sorry to say that comes with age.
I do, still like a good fiction space movie once in awhile.

I won't be buying or reading it. I feel that it dishonors God by glorifying witchcraft, especially to children. God tells us that witchcraft is a sin that will cause those who practice it to stay lost. I am not against other type fanticy books or movies but, witchcraft is real.
In Revelation 22:14. Jesus says, "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city (Heaven). Outside are the dogs (sinners) those who practice magic arts (witchcraft), the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
To me it is just the same as enjoying a movie about rape knowing that the person that I was watching it with has gone through the horror of being raped. Witchcraft will cause some to be lost and to not come to Jesus.

I'm a Christian and tried to read one of the books; found it boring and the one movie I watched I thought was a little scary for kids.
What I don't get is that most Christians seem to either love or hate these books...

I never read or saw of the hp movies or books. My kids never had any interests in them either, to busy enjoying other forms of entertainment. I do think that their is a real element of satan using the literary work of rowlings to do his dirty work.....Jesus Christ told us to stay away from certain things, yet many do not obey His Commandments...My question would be why don't we have LONG lines outside the Book stores buying or ordering the Only Book that can give someone Eternal Life? That to me is quite disturbing....hp for halloween and that's about it, oh and I don't agree with halloween either.....I don't think it's wize to Test the Lord thy God.....

I don't have any problems with Harry Potter, but I don't really read the books anymore. I'm a non-denomintional Christian.
If you think Harry Potter is Satanic, perhaps you should read a book about REAL Satanism, so you can see how little it resembles anything in Harry Potter. And, whille you're at it, a book about real witchcraft, so you can see how little it resembles Satanism.
If you believe witchcraft is sinful, that's OK. But don't go around equating all witchcraft with Satanism. Christians should preach truth, not rumor.

My sister will be obtaining her pre-ordered copy at 12:01am Saturday morning. She's a Catholic and one of those crazy fanatical Harry Potter loonies. I swear, she'll probably stay up ALL NIGHT reading.
