Might be a good idea to keep an eye on what the present pope, benedict, is about to do. He is planning on taking the Catholic Church back to fundamentalism, back to the time before vatican 2. As soon as possible.
Keep in mind that he was head of the Holy Office of Inquisition ffrom 1981 until he was elected Pope last year. (This department was renamed Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, but it is still the same Holy Office of Inquisition)
It's only getting worse. And he's German - he joined the Hitler Youth (he says unwillingly, but I don't think so), was drafted into the German Army and then became a deserter.
EDIT: Oh, also, according to a years long study done by the National Institute of Health and (I think) the World Health Organization (you'd have to look it up), the population group in the USA with the highest incidences of Spousal Abuse, Child Abuse, Incest, and pedophilia are Fundamentalist PROTESTANTS. Not Catholics. This really needs to be known, because the fact is that it is currently EXTREMELY underreported in Protestant circles and if it were uncovered the way it has been in Catholic circles, it would FAR outnumber the incidents that have been found there.
So be very careful about pointing fingers unless your own backyard is clean first, eh? Or, "people in glass houses", etc. etc.
Not saying that you're either Protestant or Catholic, you don't really make that clear. BUT, for all those Protestants who are reading this and love to point fingers at the Catholics, keep it in mind. Pick up the rock that YOUR pedophiles, wife and child abusers, and incest-mongering Protestants are hiding under and clean up the scum underneath that, before pointing fingers at anyone else.

My confidence is based on the Church's identity and on its true and complete teaching, not on the sins of its members. The coverup by some bishops was indeed a tragedy and a great sin against justice. The sins of a small percent of individual priests was also tragic, but is no more prevalent among Catholic priests than among any other group of men, including the clergy of other churches. The only thing that is more prevalent in cases regarding Catholic priests is the inordinate amount of coverage given to such cases by the secular media. When a scout leader or coach or teacher (by far the largest group of child molestors by occupation) commits a crime against a child, people in the next state don't even hear about it. Why would they care? They have dozens of such cases in their own state. But when a priest anywhere in the country commits such a crime, it's on the front page of every secular newspaper in the country. Hmmmm, wonder why.

Havent you heard a unmarried apple can harm the bushel? you ought to appreciate no longer all Catholics are a similar of their doings, their theology, their view of Mary, and so on. The Charismatic Nuns I met, understand the Gospel in its effortless variety, and lead many previous college Catholics to settle for Christ as their Savior for the 1st time. you could concentration on the mess ups of a few contained in the church, and make a contribution to dirt slinging, or you will hit upon information on a thank you to assist the Gospel interior of those you come back in the time of. Jesus pronounced If I be lifted up (from the earth) i visit entice all men unto me" properly, slinging dirt, does little to recent the Gospel eg: the Phelps, and Westboro are a shame to something stable with regards to the Grace and Love of God Edit: while somebody says "1000's of hundreds of clergymen " have raped youthful infants, I question their motives, and supplies. Did many clergymen act wretchedly ,.......particular Will there be church homes and christians that backslide, go away the religion, and be caught up in darkness contained in the final days.....of course. So spend a while on letting your easy shine (Matt 5:sixteen)

"Such a large scale"? Cite your sources, please. That's a popular, but wholly incorrect, stereotype of the Catholic church. Very few priests were EVER pedophiles, but to those that hate the Catholic church, it makes a convenient excuse to invalidate all Catholics or any value they have as human beings. Or do you care enough about the truth to see beyond sweeping generalizations and read more into it beyond what the media tells you?

Why do Christians attack Catholics? Do yourself a favor and google Southern Baptist Convention and child molesters?
Isn't there something in the Bible about Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?
I would seriously question any church that constantly tried to discredit another church. What are they afraid that you will find if you keep an open mind?

Must be Catholic-bashing time again, I see!
My mother -- who is an Assembly of God person -- likes to crab about SOME overuse of selling indulgences back in the 16th century. When I mention that one of the early founders of the AoG was both a pedophile and a registered member of the KKK (http://www.windandfire.org/2005/Main/Spiritual%20Leaders/Spiritual-Leader-BIO-Parham.htm) she says it "doesn't bother" her. Hafta wonder about that! Something from nearly 500 years ago still bothers her -- but dishing the dirt about something from less than 100 years ago doesn't....go figure!
for the record, here in the U.S., it is less than 2% of Catholic priests who were molesters. More fathers molest their own kids than ALL Catholic clergy on the planet!

I don't think so... maybe if they were to change the name to the Hypocrite's Church, or the Blind Leading the those who choose to be Deaf and Blind, or something to that effect. At least they would be closer to the truth.
And I don't want to hear about that forgiveness bull****. I say, round them up and burn the whole lot of them at the stake right next to the ones that want to forgive. I'll bring the matches!

Yes I have complete trust in the church Jesus established. A few homosexual pedophile priests from the 50's and 60's does not diminish my trust in the church or the fullness of Christ that they have preached and taught for over 2,000 years at all. I will continue my support of Jesus's true church. God Bless
