No. Written is said RIHten and reading is REEding. Most Americans pronounce the ten part as a glottal stop and the ding as d'n with the ' being a schwa.

They are not. Although they do have many aspects that are similar or the same. Plus both "written" and "reading" themselves can be pronounced in different ways, depending on dialect, who one is speaking to, etc.

written/wri??n (?? represents a glottal stop which is not a t.)
reading/readin'

The biggest difference is the first vowel. "written" has a short vowel, "reading" has a long vowel.

By the way, why are you asking this?

Not when I say them...

Are you a non-native speaker? You might not be able to perceive the differences in the vowels in the first syllables of these words. But native speakers hear a clear difference. See if you can figure it out by listening carefully.

No, they're not. There is no sound of "g" in "written". Okay? Okay. Anyway, how are you?
