Why are atheists angry with Jesus and even make offensive remarks about him?

Is there any proof which supports evolution, isn't that a hogwash theory?

Also, isn't atheism also faith - just faith that God doesn't exist?

Evolution is only a theory. This has not been proved as a scientific fact, by any stretch of imagination.

After years and years of research, scientists have not even been able to change the genetic makeup of rice. For e.g. One brand of rice cannot be converted to other. How then, can one assume that human beings with their complex and unique traits could have evolved from some wazoo cells or apes?

Faith is the belief in something in the absence of proof. Hence, atheism is also a faith, or even a religion.

I don't attack him, I put him on a par with Socrates and Gandhi. (my heroes)

Yes there is large body of evidence that evolution occurs (after all, the English moth evolved during the industrial revolution, changing its color to blend in with the soot covered landscape.) You must accept logic and reason into your heart to understand the evidence though.

Yes, atheism is a faith, sometimes even a faith in a deity (atheism only means that you do not believe in a THEISTIC god)

1) Not all atheists are angry with Jesus. Please do not treat atheists as if they were all alike. They are not, any more than all Christians are alike. I am not angry with Jesus myself, and I find many of the Gospel sayings inspiring. Those who are angry with Jesus are usually so because they believe that his teachings have had a negative impact on our society.

2) Yes. No. I suggest www.talkorigins.org . Nobody says such things about the Einstein's "theory" of relativity. Why not? Why should scientists be so universally wrong on this issue, when they've been so logical and dispassionate in other areas? That doesn't make them right, but it does mean that you should look into the issue more before you dismiss it out of hand. For one thing, why should God make it so that chimps share 99% of genes with humans? How could that happen BY CHANCE ALONE?

3) Atheism may be a kind of faith for some people, but again, please do not treat all atheists alike. Do you have "faith" that Zeus does not exist? No, for you, it's just a matter of common sense and experience that Zeus does not exist. It's precisely the same for most atheists with respect to the Christian God.

Why do Christians pester everyone and try to convert them to their religion? Why is every war centered on religion? Why has the Christian church wiped out entire cultures and societies in order to convert them to believe in a "benevolant" creator?

As for evolution - a brief summary:
The earth is 4.5 billion years old, the universe is estimated at 5 billion years old. During this time of "planetary and solor origination" comets carying ice crystals colided with a very young and turbulent earth - those comet ice crystals became a part of this planet and due to the process of evaporation
and precipitation over a long time, created our oceans. Anyone 'should' know that anywhere there is water, there is a very good chance of life...which is why scientists exploring the solar system are excited about finding ice caps on Mars and a frozen surface on Ganymede and Europa, two of the moons of Jupiter. Water plus electricity (lightning) can equal very basic life.
Back to the 4.5 billion year old earth...that is a VERY long time for life to evolve and adapt to a constantly changing planet that is just close enough to recieve warmth and nurturing from a star (our sun). Crack open your history books, Darwin, and basic books on evolution and you will discover the "logical" history of our planet and all of its inhabitants from protoplasm and bacteria to dogs, cats and people.

Finally, atheism as a faith...a faith can justify anything, even the opposite viewpoint. It's not a valid reason to believe in anything.

Aetheists have nothing personal against Jesus, or the idea of Jesus. But some of them pick on him to annoy those Christians who resemble him least.

I'm not familiar with the "hogwash" theory of evolution. Is it similar to the "hogwash" theory of God?

And, no, atheism is not a "faith". Let me explain it mathematically: Faith = NOT Faith. Doesn't make sense, does it?

Atheists do not feel any need to attack anyone, real or fictional.

Atheists are not angry with people who they do not believe to exist. Atheists do not make offensive remarks about dead people.

There is a mountain of evidence that supports the theory of evolution. Go visit a museum to view some of it.

Atheism is not having any beliefs in god/s. If you do not believe in the tooth fairy, does this mean you have faith? It is not reasonable to think this way. Please rethink this.

I am an atheist as I do not believe in God as a supreme being. As a Buddhist, I not only believe that Jesus existed I believe that he was a enlightened being such as the Buddha, Gandhi, the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa are enlightened beings. If someone can come up with concrete scientific evidence supporting creationism without using the Bible or a church-based website, I would be more than willing to consider it. So far, I've had no takers.
Great question btw- that's a drink tri-fecta and that is no small feat. Cheers!

We don't.

We are not angry at a guy who, if he existed, died a long time ago. We don't even make offensive remarks about him. Of course, what you consider offensive and what we do may differ. Christians seem to think that if someone doesn't hold their superstitions in the same reverence they do, it is offensive. Religious people, in general, have a very hard time honestly critiquing their own beliefs. They are trained not to.

And, finally, no, atheism is not a faith. A faith is belief that something is true in the absence of evidence. There is plenty of evidence that all gods of all religions are man-made myths. You can look into the histories of each religion to see this. You can also look into how easily people create and strongly believe in myths, superstitions, urban legends, conspiracy theories and the like. So, it doesn't take any "faith" to believe that no gods exist. On the other hand, since there is no evidence of any gods existing, it takes wishful thinking to believe they do. That's all that faith is, wishful thinking.

This atheist feels no need to attack Jesus, is not angry with him, and feels no need to make any remarks about him whatsoever.

There is a great deal of evidence that supports the theory of evolution. It's a pretty reasonable theory in my book.

And, no, atheism is not faith. It is simply a lack of faith in any and all deities.

Here is a really weird way to think about it !!!

Atheists actually help the faith in Jesus. Kind of like the lion in africa killing weak and old or sick prey.

The atheists are here to ensure only the strongest faith is left over because just like the lion they go for the weak first. So after all the lions (atheists) have had their feed, only the strongest most fit faith survives.

Hope I could give you a different opinion on it..
Have a good one.
