I wish soomebody would spit on me or any of my brother and sisters who are in harms way everyday for them. We have children, families to support just like they do. And we dont what most American's want to but are afraid to do. There are those who call us baby killers, they say we are stupid and can't read...but soon as 9-11th happened who did they come crying to. Somebody has to have the guts to answer the call to support our people even if sometimes we fight in situations we ourselves may not agree with. I feel sorry for scum who would do something that low but I made an oath and I will help serve my country even for low lifes like them.

We are stationed at Fort Drum and a few months ago a lady walked up to a soldier at the airport asked if he was coming back from Iraq he answered yes maam im coming home for r&r.. she spit in his face and walked away. She was arrested & charged with assualt but had her charges dropped to a lesser charge if she made a public apology to the soldier. Screw that if someone spit on my husband my foot would be so far up their a ss that we would be running a 3 legged race to the freaking hospital....So sadly yes its starting to happen

I don't think the American People believe there is anything wrong with our soldiers. Most look on them as heroes. Its the leaders who might be spit upon-if they dare get that close to the general population. I know in my neighborhood no one would spit on a soldier. We hang casualty penants from the streetlights lining the main boulevard with each dead soldier's name, rank and branch of service. You can drive for two blocks without seeing a bare lamppost....and I live in "liberal" Orange County, Ca.

Of course not. About the only point the country is pretty much united on is that the troops are not to blame. Personally, I think much of the motivation for supporting the troops even in the face of widespread distrust of the war itself is the guilt society feels for how we treated returning soldiers decades ago.

I never understood how a bunch of hippies could spit on combat hardened soldiers and marines and not get pummeled. If you review the records from those times, there is very little evidence that it happened very often.

I would like to think this country has learned from our past. It was a different way of thinking back then. My husband will come home to a hero's welcome even if I and our family are the only ones who thinks he is a hero. My mother will be by my side again welcoming him home..She didn't have that chance with my father..He was killed after my birth in Vietnam. To those who protest this war...I don't want us there either but you can voice your opinions because of all of the people who have fought and died for your right to do so.

The Hippie cowards and others like them, will die knowing they are scum for what they did, extending thier college years, fleeing to canada. What did they accomplish in those years.....nothing they undermined our efforts to free a oppressed people from the North Vietnamese, smoked pot, took acid and gave each other VD from all the "free love". And the men that were hippie protestors and spat on our veterans, on their death bed will wish for one chance to give it all back and to serve side by side with thier comrads in arms....but they know they can't and they will die knowing they were cowards for what they did!

I would hope not. It was awful that they did that then. How about all us military families spit on the protesters and see is they like it.
I thank you for your service. You are a hero as well.

The Anti-War movement did learn something from the backlash that sort of behavoir caused, and has mostly managed to feign 'support' for the troops and avoid such incidents.

No, but I'm sure the "God hates F@gs" right-wing religious wackos will be out in force and picketing their mission.
If they have the gall to protest a soldier's funeral, I wouldn't put it past them to spit on our returning brave men and women.
