I'm not trying to make anyone mad, but why does it seem like, no matter what website I go on, people seem to bash Christianity more and more each day? Why are people so intent on making people NOT believe? I am not one of the narrow minded Christians who will only say "Because God said so." I like to look for answers as well, and find truth in the Bible. Read into it. Not take it literally. But why are people so cruel online about religion? Did something bad happen to them? To make them turn away from God? It seems no matter what forum I go to people continually bash my beliefs to the highest level, calling us dumb, uneducated, and saying we know nothing of the Bible. This isn't true of everyone. Why doesn't anyone stand up to it? And are the non-believers really just searching, hoping to find truth in the Bible so they can put it to rest? They will make others go looking for answers along with them, only rooting the person standing up for God deeper in his faith.
Please don't be ugly

to all who have said this:
I never once said Christians were innocent of bashing others. I know there are some of every different group who run their mouths and do not speak with God on their tounges. I'm sorry you had to witness those believers. I have not seen as many of them as I have seen non-Christians (is that better, pixie?) bashing on the internet, and I'm being serious.
When I said non-believer, I meant non-believer of Christ. I will try to say non-Christian. I'm sorry.
I do not shove my beliefs on anyone, but like the last poster said, a lot of non-Christians go to all extremes to make sure we have nothing left.
I used to work at Walgreens. The manager would close down the store and say, "Wlagreens is now closed, thank you, good night, and God bless." She nearly lost her job for that. Why? Because someone got offended? Over what? Two words? Why does it bother people so much? I wouldn't get mad if someone said something about buddah or the torah...?

It's a sign of the End Times. More and more people will turn from God and openly admit it. It's sad but true and was expected to happen. I think most Christians do stand up to it, but we do turn the other cheek. We know not everyone will believe. I don't feel I have to defend God, He is more than capable of doing that. I just have to tell of His Love and Grace and pray that others receive Him. We just need to stay strong in our faith because it will get worse before it gets better.
God Bless.

The problem is Catholics consider their selves the one true church.
Protestants think all the Catholics still need salvation from their idols.
When I was a kid in the Pentecostal Church I heard that the Baptist down the street were going to hell. When I was in my twenties I attended a Calvary Chapel for a year and everyone from every denomination was going to hell unless they shared a myopic view of the scriptures. I see power struggles and damnation. I would be Pagan now if I hadn’t found the Gnostic faith and being a solo practitioner I’ll be the first to admit that my views aren’t typical for a Gnostic but I learned to store a great deal of hate when I was a Christian, I’m simply trying to give it back. I find their venom painful and anti-Christ for its derisive nature. One could say I should show them more love, but Christ never said he was sorry to the Pharisees. I do know there are some spiritually right on Christians sadly they aren’t typical and I’ve heard them rebuked for saying things to keep peace. If the Church would discipline a peace keeper then I would have nothing to do with them.
Blessed Be!

I try very hard not to bash any religious belifs. I have however found that almost all of the people who attack my beliefs are Christians. I am Wiccan and my beliefs mean just as much to me as yours do to you. I think muny times you will find the people who are attacking Christianity are those who have been attacked by them so often that they start to group all of them together.
If you even look at your question there are many things that I could take offencivly. For example you call me a non-believer. i believe very strongly in my beliefs and therefore do not feel like a non-believer. You ask if I'm searching for truth. I have found the truth. Just because it doesn't match your idea of truth doesn't mean it's wrong. i don't want to be converted and I can't help being offended when I tell someone no thank you and they continue to try to "save me".
I am not trying to attack you and I hope you can see that. Too often people ask these questions but they don't really want to hear the answer. In the end they choose the answer that is what they wanted to hear. I am giving you the answer to the question you asked.
For me when it comes to respect I give it as long as I get it. I have in no way attacked your beliefs or your religion and as long as you show respect to me I never will. I don't believe you are wrong. I believe your faith is the right one for you just as mine is the right one for me

The anti religious people aren't the only ones bashing religions. Christians can be just a cruel. It makes me ashamed to say I am Christian, because people automatically think I will be stuck up and closed minded about religion. I believe in God. I live my life honestly, and am kind to others. I am a good person. That is who I am. And so far no one on here or anywhere else has cornered me for my beliefs because I do not treat them in that manner. I am always willing to discuss religion, no matter which one, civilly. I am open minded. Christians have a skewed outlook where they do not realize that bashing people for their beliefs because they think they are wrong is not going to help anyone believe in their God. It will only push them away. Not only for Christians. It goes for everyone who bashes anyone else's religion. It really baffles me to try and understand what they think they are getting out of it. No one would want to be part of a religion that treats them like trash because of their beliefs.
And yes most people who do not believe in religion have had something horrible happen to them, or were treated badly to where they though God had turned his back on them. And probably on top of that there were no real religious people there to help them get on their feet because they were too caught up in their own selves to help anyone else.

They just want to scoff and mock God and those who believe in Him. They are trying to keep people away from religion and God that may need Him. This is the wickedness that their heart is inclined to do. It's an evil thing that they enjoy doing. A fool says in his heart that there is no God. More will be deceived as the time draws near. We hope and pray that they come to Jesus before it is too late.

Satan is powerful and so many people have not been exposed to the good news in any meaningful way. Combine these two things and bashing and hatred ensue. Stay strong, remember to always act in a Christ-like manner toward others and start to take the Bible literally as God meant us to.
Blessings to you in all you do.

It is largely due to ignorance, insensitivity and intolerance for points of view differing from their own.
There is also a vested interest theories tending to disprove God's existence. For if God can be proven not to exist; then humans need not be accountable for their own actions to a higher power. This gives a lot of people an illusion of freedom.
Furthermore, the ones who believe organized religions are "evil" discount any and all works of charity accomplished by such religions (for example, how many food drives, clothing drives, orphanages, nursing facilities, trusts, hours of service and volunteer work etc. have been set up by Christians to help people? Not mentioned at all). And they exaggerate effects of the Inquisition and Crusades, and so-called "religious wars."
For example, even in the height of the Spanish Inquisition, it was estimated that only 2000 people were executed (over a fifty year period). This is not on the order of hundreds of thousands as they would have you believe.
More importantly, however, all of these executions stemmed from trials in a civil court, headed by Ferdinand and Isabella, not from the Church itself. Essentially, this was a way for Ferdinand and Isabella to take power away from the church by setting up their own tribunals and handling religious affairs.

The crusades too were originally based on a "reconquest" of lands originally taken over by the Moors. At that time, the state and the church were one and the same. To say that the wars were purely about "religious beliefs" is a gross misttatement. Religious beliefs were just one proxy for a geopolitical power struggle between people of different cultures.

Some will say they don't like other people's "religion" shoved in their face; and that is a legitimate complaint. However, there is a certain point at which a religious symbol is more than just a religious symbol -- it represents the heritage and history of the United States. For example, fighting to remove crosses off of gravesites of war memorials (Mt. Soledad), spending millions to remove the cross from the state seal of california (on every vehicle, item, or document it appears in) suing to get people to take down Christmas trees in a park in hosting a christmas scene that has been going on for the past 70 years. Or "In god we trust" off of currency. That's now shoving their beliefs upon the beliefs of mainstream America. Even if you don't believe it, it is still part of our heritage and history. You should respect that history.
Just like if I were a citizen of Greece, I wouldn't be trying to tear down statues of Athena because I didn't believe in Athena. Or trying to get an image of Hephaestus off of the currency. That just shows disrespect, intolerance, and insensitivity.

Sadly, I think you'll find an equal number of Christians bashing other religions. Most of the people I've ever met that hate Christianity have either had something bad happen to their ancestors because of Christianity or they themselves have been treated badly by a Christian. It's a vicious circle. Everyone bashing everyone else. I stand firm in my faith and feel no need to explain it or enforce it on others. I love talking to people of other religions, though! It's so interesting to me! I think more people should try to be understanding of all faiths. I know it's frustrating to be antagonized, but don't let it get to you. ;)

Personally, I'm sick of religious people trying to push their way into the public schools with their bogus creation theories. That is why I'm here. You say christians are being bashed?? You can't get elected in this country unless you cop to believing in god! It has nothing to do with morality... most atheists are law-abiding citizens. There are fewer atheists in prison, per capita, than christians. And some of the most hateful answers I see in here come from "christians."
I'm not looking for "truth" in religion. I find it in the natural world. Science uncovers truth all the time. Some new discoveries may disprove what was once thought to be true, but that's the beauty of science... it is always looking to prove itself and is not closed to self-correction.

If you read the Bible it tells you why. It tells you that only a few will enter Heaven. There were only two in the beginning and I am sure any over that will be considered to be pure pleasure to God.
