Join your school newspaper staff. If you have a school radio station, you can join that but the hardest thing to learn will be interviewing and the paper will give you experience.

Take speech, or join a debate team. Look for opportunities to do lots of public speaking. Kids in 4-H get lots of presenting experience. Are you in any youth organization that has such opportunities? Take drama, get into school plays. Do you sing or play music? Join a band. Just get in front of people. Learn to present well and entertain people.

When you watch TV, pay attention to what makes people so good. Seacrest is simply amazing. Watch Idol just to see how he can make other people funny, and how he controls the clock on live programming.

Read a lot. Become a very good reader. You can choose subjects that interest you. You want to become good at talking, but you also need something interesting to say.

Just start doing it. And btw, if you later change your mind, this goal will still have lead you to develop skills that will help you whatever you do.

suggestion 1 - find a job where you will be working with people.. waitress, hostess, retail, get into listening to what people want how they want to spend there time, money etc.

suggestion 2 - pick up the local paper find a story that interests you then email the person that wrote it. Tell them what your all about and see if you can hang with them for a day.

your best course of action is to build you brand.

Volunteer to do some public speaking on any topic that you are familiar with. Focus on communication courses as your major. Intern with a radio or television station. Practice practice practice. keep a brag book of your accomplishments and always be prepared to take advantage of any opportunity to display your talents.

Take public speaking and writing classes. Join toastmaster if they allow teens. Classes in Journalism and if you can land an internship at a newspaper it would be perfect, if not high school or college newspaper experience.
