I'm a trendy girl all the way so when I went last year things like the original Gucci and Prada stores were cool for me. If you like Victoria's Secret, there is a 5 story one in Manhatten. I did love seeing Rochafellar Center, thats near Central Park (another great spot!). I never went up the empire State Building but honestly girl, you're going to have SO much more to do. Union Square is fun, the Comedy Club was a lot of fun too. I could go on for days. I don't regret not seeing the 'typical' sights.

Avoid the sex museum....$15 for an hour walk through at best. Waste of time. Go to a comedy show, they are usually good. Eat a meal in Little Italy. Chinatown is fun. Wheel and deal with some street vendors. Broadway shows, Letterman, Radio City. Ground Zero, the business district is interesting, Battery Park, Hogs and Heifers is crazy. Go for an NYC Taxi ride...it's wild. The Joshua Tree is a nice Bar, so is Kevin St. James and the Irish Bar next to it.

one of my favorite touristy thing to do, is to hire one of those bike cabs and have them take me thru times square at night. get one around rockerfeller center and tell them to go down 7th ave. It's like a real scary amusement park ride. it is best to ride with a close friend of the opposite sex after a drink or two :)
