I'm getting so fed up with my neighbors! They brag all the time about all the new and expensive stuff they buy, but yet their kids are always asking me for food! Today, the woman asked my 9 year old to ask me if I could give her a loaf of bread. I simply told him to tell her we are out of bread, and told my 12 year old that he would run to the corner store for her if she gave him $2. He came back and said that she didn't have any money. Are they f*ckin' kidding me?! Then she sends the boy over here to ask for lunch because she doesn't feel like making it!!!! (yes, I'm preturbed) I told him we already had lunch. I feel bad for the boy, but I feel worse being taken advantage of by people who clearly have enough money to feed their family, while I'm over here making end$ meet.
What would you do?

He and his sister look well fed. But I hear and see them at ALL the houses in the neighborhood! I just don't know where this woman gets off?

Diane, while agree with you that we should be compassionate and feed the hungry children, I do know that this woman has plenty of food.. she's like 250lbs and her husband is not any lighter. It seems peculiar that she would ask MY son to ask me for a loaf of bread. What? Are we in Russia?!

First of all they are most likely not paying for it cause a person who likes to brag and floss will not begg for water. But the next time she start beggin for your hard earned tell to go to a community church and ask for some grocerys .calling child service is kinda cold the kids might end up worse off then they are gettin conversation lane and talk (women-to-women)

They don't have food because they are buying stuff they CAN'T afford. I know what you mean. I would also feel bad for the kids but I wouldn't want to pass things out either. I threaten my kids souls about bustin out the food while they have a ton of kids over. Even if you have the money I hate running to the store and I feel like everyone can go home and eat. I'm not so sure if it keeps up that you shouldn't put in a call about the kids not having food. They would send someone out to see if they are being fed. Maybe this would make them spend the money more wisely.
I feel for you and good luck. Don't give in or they will not leave you alone.

First of all i would never turn down a hungry child for no reason.remember it isn't the child's fault. I would talk to the woman and make it sound as if she doesnt know her kid is asking, something like Did you know that tommy comes over and asks for something to eat for lunch becasue he says you didnt give him any?
kids always want food form someone elses house. My kids could just get done eating and go to grandma and say they were hungry.
If the neighbor isnt feeding her kids and keeps bugging neighbors call cps. They probably just dont have thier priorities in place, and cps will remind them of this.

Based on your story, it seems that these parents are more concerned with their material status and "appearances" than they are about their kids. If it continues to be a problem, I would call CPS (or the agency in your state) and tell them. Don't embellish, just explain the facts and let them decide whether or not to make a visit.
Meanwhile, I would speak with the "adults" in this household and explain to them that you cannot afford to feed her kids at th is time. If, at some point, you feel that you can, you will invite them over, but until then you just can't afford to be their personal food source.

Copy your question and print it out and put it in an envelope ,write at the bottom of it"does this remind you of anyone you know? If you cannot feed your kids, maybe Child protective services can find someone who can".Then next time her boy comes over ,have him to deliver it to her.She will get the message.

Like us we are not a soup kitchen. However, we would never turn a hungry child away at any time day or night.
I suggest you report you suspicions to Child Protective Services ( CPS ) in your area. They are obligated to investigate and help these children.

They probably buy everything on credit, and pay their bills online. Never have any cash. It's not ok to let your kids go hungry, though. Priorities, you know! Do their kids look malnourished? You could call the authorities. I wouldn't feed their kids for them though.

Notify social services about them not feeding their children. It's not fair that those people have their kids beg for food. social workers would have a problem with that.
