Has to do with Creation versus evolution and Genesis. I've read here that some Christians believe most of the Bible, but not the Creation account in Genesis, because it isn't scientific. They say the Bible is true when it talks about morality, but when it comes to scientific fact, it isn't a science book, at can't be trusted.
To those Christians I want to point something out. The raising of Lazarus isn't scientific. The resurrection isn't. There's nothing scientific about walking on water. The parting of the Red Sea, the healing of the sick. Feeding 5,000 people with two loaves of bread and five fish. What's scientific about changing water into wine? Do you, as a Christian, accept these things because of scientific fact, or by faith? There are many things in the Bible that fall outside the realm of science that we must accept by faith. Faith, by definition, is something we can not see or exerience, but believe.
As a Christian, I believe the Creation story in the Bible, do you?

John 6: 61Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you? 62What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit[e] and they are life. 64Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."

66From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

67"You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.

68Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

I am a catholic and have been for many years now, and I am afraid my young friend that taking the bible to literally is not a healthy thing to do, all that you have mentioned can and has been researched by the vary best theologians in the world, and for most of what you say can be explained by how it was all done, and there is no where in the bible that God himself has lent his hand to that book other than the writers saying so, our obligation is to worship God the father not a book, now as for creation you did evolve and your ancestors are the bushman of Africa, and we no for a fact that man walked the earth over a hundred thousand years ago, we also know for a fact that the earth is millions upon millions of years old not 6000 that some would like you to believe, and yes there is a God your saviour and mine, and that is what we all need to focus on may God bless.

A few years ago, a man standing in the middle of a field talking out loud was scientifically meaning he was crazy. Today it means a scientific cell phone. Although we do not always understand things, we can both except and use them.

A Crestron home automation system is something few understand completely or even know about but, all would love to have and use if they got it.

All the things you mentioned in the question, we do not understand scientifically as they are too advanced for us, but they work. Other things we do scientifically understand as the water cycle, the planet hanging upon nothing, biblical history being accurate, etc. Since they are true, it follows we can rely on the rest as true as well.

I believe in the Bible. Still i think there are many evidences (including hermeneutics and theology and not just biology and Physics) to say that Genesis's first chapters are clearly allegoric. The same does not happen, for example, with the Gospels or the book of acts (in which many miracles are described).

Other than that, well you've heard it, none of the Bible is about science, its about salvation!

I totally agree with you 100%. I only have one problem. YOu definition of faith is not biblical. the Faith of the bible is based on fact as well as heart. Not to say you are wrong completely but if you do a biblical study of faith you will find that the bible makes it clear that what we believe in is tangible we can see it around us. Notice verse 20 Clearly seen, Faith is more than just the heart it is based upon the Revelation Of GOd through Nature and Science as well.

Rom 1:17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them.
Rom 1:20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The creation account is 100% accurate, and scientific.

The funny thing is, science ITSELF was created by God. The laws of physics, space and time were created just like matter and energy were. So even if the creation account wasn't "scientific", it wouldn't bother me in the least. Why do scientists expect to explain the universe BY the universe? That defies the most basic logic. It's like seeing a car and trying to figure out how the car created the car. Madness.

Am I totally off base? If I am, please tell me.

Faith is the victory!
The bible says the just walk by faith, not by sight.2 Corth.5:7.
Faith doesn't have to prove anything. It is believing in Jesus Christ as our saviour.
The resurrection is showing the power of God
himself.Raising Lazarus from the dead is just
a fraction of his mighty power.
There is good and bad science.
The science that trys to disprove our God is of the devil. The devils diggers, with lies added.
God is the creator of all things.Science is just
now finding out what God allows them too. It's
the fool that says there is no God.

because of the fact mutually as lots of persons are drawn to analyzing those religions, Christianity is the main dominant interior the US, and consequently the only that gets the main interest. that's one ingredient to be taught a faith for deepest understanding and yet another to aim and understand a faith whose adherents have the capability to effect my existence. I ask and answer a great style of questions with regard to Christianity because of the fact i replaced into raised Christian, gave it up, and stay in a greater often than not Christian usa. It consequences me consequently i'm greater apprehensive approximately it than say Hinduism, which has little to no effect on me.

A true follower of Christ will believe all of God's Word, to be the inspired Word of God, the Bible.
It does not make sense to believe part of it only.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.
