Dear Friend,

It is a memorable quote and a good guide for Christians. As a Catholic Priest I do have to regularly align myself to Christ in thoughts, words, and deeds. I cannot remember who said that (for some reason Neitsche comes to mind). But it is a beneficial reminder that a Christian is to be a person of integrity in who and what they believe.
However, let us look to the one who said it. Although the person likes our Jesus, he fails to understand that we are not to like Jesus, but to love Him. And when loving Him we are to love others (including enemies and people we do not get along with). And so, what this person says, is a truism, but he failed to live the full implication of what he is actually saying by hating others. By loving those he even hates he could have been the example all us Christians are to follow, but he rather just "like" Christ and hate His Church. What a pity. What a missed opportunity for him and other who follow this thought without thought. Hope this has been helpful to you. May the Lord bless and keep you. May the light of His face shine upon you.

God's and your beast of burden
Fr. john

I think that this quote is a generalization. Yes, unfortunately there ARE a lot of Christians who act very unChristlike. However, that doesn't mean there AREN'T Christians out there who do their best to live a life that reflects the Lord's. Often times I feel that others forget that Christians are human and as a result it's inevitable that we WILL make mistakes. Therefore, I just pray that people will recognize that, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven."

It's sad to say, but it can be true. The Bible says that the world will see God through Christians only by their love.
We have to set a good example. Only then will people want it.
People watch Christians alot because of what they call themselves. Some so-called Christians alot of times give other Christians a bad name. Someone will see a so-called christian being mean to somebody and think, "WHAT A HYPOCRITE" and then hate every other christian out there. What can I say, Christians sometimes do slip up. It has to be by our love!!!

Wasn't that Gandhi who said that?

Yes, that is true. In fact, almost all Christians are not like Christ. However, we're only human. We make mistakes and we are flawed. That's why we needed Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay for our sins, and his resurrection gives us a way to heaven. If we could do it on our own, then we wouldn't need that. However, we're not perfect and we need help.

I think it can be true..... contemporary Christianity, in my view, has become very harsh and lost a lot of the grace the Jesus(pbuh) was said to have when speaking with people. The approach in attempting to convert people can be so intimidating and can easily turn one off.

Mahatmas Ghandi, however, did have that grace :)

Peace and Blessings,

Excellent. Too many "Christians" are anything but Christ-like.

Wasn't that said by that guy who was murdered by a Hindu for being nice to a Muslim? Yeah, he got it right, but it's not just Christians.

It's interesting that people look at Gandhi when they think that they can get something from him. Gandhi wasn't Jesus Christ. Jesus said that if you believe in him, you will be saved.

God is our savior.

I think Gandhi was on to something there. Jesus said it first to the Pharisees though.
