I always felt it was impotrant to fit everything onto one side of a resume. Is there a "rule of thumb" for that?

Imagine yourself as the person sifting through a couple of hundred resumes. Would you be pleased that you had to flip the pages over, or would you prefer to just look at the pages and not have to rearrange them.
It is all about making it simple and less painful for the reader.
If there is anything that you can do to make that happen then do it....
NO double sided.....awkward for the reader.
Even though it is an environmentally better....and more economical

Okay...on second thought...if you are applying to an environmental company or to be a Cost Accountant, you SHOULD double side it!! LOL!

A resume should never be 2 sided and you should always try putting everything into one page...also the less clutter the better...don't use to many headings they don't look good on resume's...no borders either...dont use crazy fonts or colors...the size should be 12 no bigger no smaller...don't list phone numbers in the resume because thats what you need a reference page for...don't list anything on a resume that doesn't relate to that particular job...don't list something if you haven't worked there for over 5 years...

No. Nobody will write a resume on both sides. That's a very unprofessional thing to do. Yes, you are right, just keep writing everything on one side, and try to limit the number of pages of your resume to 2. Even though you have a 2-page resume, never never stable them together, because stapling a resume of multiple pages is also a very unprofessional thing to do.

I was taught that the rule for a resume is ONE PAGE, one side only. People I know of who review resumes say that they do not like to see resumes more than one page in length, and the longer the resume, the less likely they are to hire someone.

A resume is not intended to get you hired. The object is to get your foot in the door, so to speak-- to make the person who receives your resume want to find out more about you. And you ought to be able to do that in just one page.

yes there is a rule of thumb. u never put information on the back of ur resume. front page only please! i would rather just look at the front of one page instead of haveing to try and flip it over and read on the backside of ur resume. like if u have more than one stapled sheet`s together. and beside`s it look`s more professional that way. ok?

Yes- never, never submit a 2-sided resume. It's just not done. If your resume runs to two pages, print them one-sided and staple them together. Try to make everything fit on just one page, though. If it looks too squished or you can't fit everything comfortably on one page, go for two, but not double-sided.
