Both but it has to be in the right order. As my dear old nan used to say (God rest her soul) Beer before wine is fine but wine before beer makes you queer.

Wine.

Beers mostly taste the same. Wines are diverse, complex, and fit into whatever mood I am in.

If I am in romantic mood, champagne is a must;
If I want to celebrate, champagne will do fine;
If I drink without food, I love my Sauvignon blanc;
If I want to have something heavier with meal, Cabernet Sauvignon is my poison;
For my nondrinking friends, I can go for $20 bottle Merlot;
For my wine connosoir friends, we can have a dinner of 20 with 30 bottles of wine, each priced at least $50;
I love the feel of a great wine cork coming out and the ancitipation of examining the cork;
I love the smell of a freshly opened wine that has been aged;
I love to imagine what the wine's flavor may have and remember with whom I had the wine before;
I love to taste a glass of wine through the night and see how it changes, from a green closed grape juice to a fully blossomed seductive wonder of mother nature;
I can relate to the movie Sideway when the main characters travel through the wine country with close friends and meeting new people;
I can also relate to the movie Sideway when the heroine imagine what it was like when the wine was initially made and how those people had lived and loved and put their effort into this tiny bottle of treasure for us to share;
When I feel extravagant, I go to a nice wine store and shop for some good stuff;
When I feel frugal, I go to Sam's and Costco's to shop for some bargains;
When I feel adventurous, I open a bottle of something I had never had before;
When I feel calm, I like to taste a bottle of wine that I had before and relive the memory while anticipating the future;
The only things I hate about wine is the money that I spent and the blue teeth that I have after I drank a nice bottle of wine.

You can't do all that with beer.

Definately wine. We have just had a lovely bottle of New Zealand Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc with our lobster dinner - at our fantastic local pub. Another favourite sauv. b. is the South African Vergelegan, but we also enjoy reds especially a good pinot noir, slightly chilled or a Californian Robert Mondavi woodbridge cabernet sauvignon which we bring back from Aldi shops in northern Germany and cost us less than three pounds per bottle - unfortunately we have to pay around seven pounds for it here - if and when you can get it at Sainsburys! But my two all time favourites are Chateau Mussar - from the Lebanon and the wonderful Italian Valpollicello Amarone, (not to be confused with the normal Valpollicello) both big, fruity reds bursting with flavour, fabulous with strong meats but also fish such as lobster and also both reasonably expensive. So what - your'e worth it!!

depends on my mood. I like a nice cold beer some times - a good night out with the girls, cold beer and a bit of a laugh. If I am sitting at home, a nice glass of wine goes down a treat.
