Why does religion make it easier for good people to do bad things? ...because assigning ultimate responsibility to a higher power allows people to avoid accepting responsibility for their own actions.

In fairness, Lucien B (above) makes a good point. I agree that, for some people, religion does make bad behavior more difficult. Ultimately, I suppose, it depends on the individual and the role (if any) of religion in their lives.

This is an easy question. People have created religions, not God. So you choose what to believe, and then wrap a religion around what you think is right. If you go out and steal cars for a living, and then parade around all day with the cross of Jesus around your neck, and a picture of the "Virgin Mary" on the back of your car, does it make it right? Heck no. But many people coming across the borders do just that. If you want to drink, would you wander into the mormons?
Good people are good inside and out. They don't need religion to prove that, they just accept Jesus, and carry on being good. The bad just carry on being bad, and try to hide with in religion.

Religion makes it difficult to do bad things too. It can be either a motivator to behave in a moral manner, or an excuse for behavior that follows the "ends justify the means" postulate.

Those who knowingly act evil often set some limitations on their actions, so as not to go too far. However, those who act in accordance with what they believe to be a just cause have no limitations -- because they are "right."

What religion? "Easier" how? "Good" people? "Bad" things? You're not a qualified judge of anything, you're just a boring troll.

It doesn't. God tells us NOT to do bad things. You must be thinking of some weird religion. Besides, I don't think people are naturally good.

BECAUSE RELIGION IS MADNESS.
Primitive tribal war chiefs used religion as a mean to control masses , it has worked and still is. Violence is justified in the name of religion.
