There are a lot of "seedy" elements to that particular business - drugs, prostitution, and organized crime are the "big ones".

Many of the clubs are owned by the mob (around here, it's mainly the russian mafia), and many of the girls also "turn tricks" in the parking lot after their shift is over. I don't know if this is "forced", or by choice - but it's fairly well known that you can get "additonal services" if you are looking for that sort of thing ;);)

In addition, many of the girls use drugs - either recreationally, or for weight-loss purposes. Even if you don't, there will be that pressure on you.

If you're just looking to make a quick buck once in a while - find a place that holds things such as "wet t-shirt competitions" - where the winners are given prize money...

Personally, I would not recommend that - and this is coming from a GUY ;););)

But in the end - it all comes down to what you feel comfortable with. The money is quick, and fairly easy - but you still have to look out for yourself. Things DO have a way of coming back to you - what if one of your professors is there one night... ;);)

I think it is wrong to assume that only people with no self-respect would ever do this as a career.

I have met 1 really together lady who did this for a while when she lived overseas. She made a ton of money and never sacrificed her self respect. When she returned to her own country, she started her own homeopathic therapy practice and has never looked back (also not with any regrets).

However, she is the ONLY lady I have personally met from that industry about whom I can say such a thing. Most that I have met have become druggies and some have become prostitutes. Some use the money to pay for school, which is great. But others start wasting it on drugs and waste away their lives in the process.

I would say statistically, the odds are against you if you do it. But if you are really strong, and do have lots of self-respect, and still feel it would be an ok thing to do for a while (and set some limits on what you are willing to do for money). Then it could be an interesting experience.

It all depends on you. On the surface it is a great way to make a lot of money. Problem is a lot of women are plagued by guilt for many years. The other thing to keep in mind is that many women how dance are addicts. You'll be tempted by everything, just waiting for you to try it. Some women can ignore all that, make some money and move on. Others have their lives torn apart.

Do some serious thinking about how you might handle the situation. I've donated to a few girl's college educations. Unfortunately, I'm sure I've donated to a few girl's addictions as well.

Please, don't do it; have some self-respect. Women, including myself, spent a lot of time in the '70's rallying against being treated as sex objects. It seemed for a couple decades, that we were being taken seriously, and there was a great increase in professional women, such as doctors, lawyers, financial experts, etc.

Now there has been a shift back in the other direction for some years now, only worse — the women are allowing themselves to be treated as sex objects — it's as if they are giving up on having pride in themselves.

I hope you do become a doctor. There are many ways to get through school. Many guys find it hard to afford to get through all the schooling it takes to become a doctor — but you don't see them going out and becoming strippers. You, like the guys, can get the money and still hold on to your pride.

What happens if you become a doctor by stripping, & you are a successful doctor. The day may come where some hospital wants to promote you to some very prestigious position. Then, all of a sudden, someone comes out and says "I know her; she used to strip at ...." All of a sudden, no one looks at you as the great doctor you had become — all they see is a "slut" in their minds, not respectable enough, certainly, to represent their hospital. IT DOES HAPPEN!!!!!!

There are ways to get the money legitimately. Start with financial aid. Then ask schools about available scholarships. Then there are grants for students who are in particular fields, i.e., doctors. There are work/study programs. Then the biggie — student loans. Haven't you ever heard people complaining that they are still paying off their student loans at the age of 40? IT CAN BE DONE!!!

You feel scared because deep down you know it's not the right thing to do — you will regret it later on, trust me; I know people who did it and it still shames them, years later. Look, even a lot of the guys are telling you not to do it — doesn't that tell you something???

I really hope you become a doctor without lowering yourself. Think of how proud you will feel when, after all the hard work & struggling, you are a doctor.

Getting a fast fix is not the answer. If you later have kids, and they talk about how selling drugs makes a lot of money, real fast. How do you teach them that doing it for a fast fix is not the answer, that they should do honorable work, even if it takes longer, so they can have pride in themselves? Start with yourself. Keep your dignity; as long as you have that, you are a success. Good luck.

While the money is easy and can even become addictive the consequences down the road can be real bad. Especially if you are trying to become a professional in a highly competitive field. It may come back to haunt you one day. There are other reasons such as the drug element that you will find with your co-dancers and the competitiveness of them also. It can get real bad at times.

I wouldn't do it, and I think it's something you might regret later. It's pretty demeaning in my opinion. You could always just waitress or something for extra money. Just make sure it won't bring you down later if someone you don't want to know hears about it in 20 years or so.
At the same time though, I don't want to force my opinion on you. Some people really enjoy that kind of job and find it fun, and if it makes you happy then I guess you should do it. Best of luck

Um.... Well it's up to you, but I would only do it, if it's the absolute only thing that you can do for money. But honestly.. If you had self respect you wouldn't do something like that. I don't know just think about it do you really want to raise money by having drunk self absorbed men staring at you!? I don't know I would just really think about it before you jump into it. Good luck with whatever you decide!

If you are scared - that's telling you something. Be guided by your gut feeling. I couldn't do it myself, I would find it degrading, but that's just my opinion. I don't have the figure for it either, but that's another story.

You don't need a patient (or tutor) saying to you someday 'where have I seen you before?' - and then remembering exactly where it was.

Hold your head high, girl. It's been done before, and you can do it too.

First of all. Spell. There's a spell check button right there, yet you managed to spell half the words wrong. Second, if you are going to become a doctor, your name shouldn't be in the adult section of most video stores. I would hope that if you were to become a doctor you would have more respect for yourself than that. This whole question and the format you asked it in disgusts me.

The fact that you are asking a thousand strangers tells me NO. You don't have what you need to do it because you don't want to do it. Don't let the situation bully you. Use your heart and your mind and your trust to see you can get what you want only by doing what you really want....
