How long after eating something does it take to pass through your stomach?

I ate something about 20 minutes ago and i feel a bit sick, how long will the food to pass through so i wont be sick?

From what I have learned in the past and through other sources saying the same thing...Twenty minutes is what food takes to go through to the stomach. That's why they used to say years back...wait 30 minutes after you eat to go into the pool. The extra 10 minutes is a safe zone.

Mouth to anus is generally 18-24 hours. What you ate, however, may pass from the stomach itself into the upper intestine in thirty minutes to one hour, but, if the food itself is bad, greasy or infected, then you could be in for quite a long haul. Some food poisonings do not manifest within the spew, sweat and **** department for 36 hours or more.

It would have been useful to have known what you ate!

If you are still feeling rough in 30 mins or so, call NHS direct or your doctor. You should not feel sick after eating. And, if you have eaten a helf-cooked burger on top of a bottle of Ugandan vodka, the sooner it is sorted, the better.

depends on the food itself.. somethings are a lot easier to digest than others..

e.g. pork etc takes ages.. like a day or something.

and well sweet corn isn't the easiest thing to digest.

it's probably something you ate earlier in the day if its only 20 minutes later.
