The Unity church has basic christian principles, but they have other aspects that bother many believers.

The Unity church that I went to had services that encompassed beliefs of many faiths. They even had a group of Christian Wiccans and Pagans.

Their concept is to unify all religions and not bother about the differences in teachings between the denominations. Now, while I thought that was a nice idea at first, I began to see that the truth of the Bible was being set aside in favor of making everyone feel warm and fuzzy. To me, it was diluting the Bible principles down to the lowest common denominator.

I prefer a church that is pure Bible. " What sayest the Lord?" is my motto, and I have found that Church Of Christ congregations suit my desire for just the Bible, and do not follow any particular man (or woman).

We do respect the fact that we hear the truth via people, but we also know that people are human, they are imperfect, and they may go astray, even while speaking truth.

It is our own responsibility to take what we hear and compare it to the words of the Bible. We "test" what we hear against what we know to be truth and go from there. It keeps us on the right path without being led astray by a human desire for power, attention, or money.

It was founded by Charles and Mrytle Fillmore in 1889 as the Unity Church of Christianity. So while it is a Christian church it is not as dogmatic as other denominations.

Basically they teach that there is a Christ presence in all people and it promotes prayer and meditation so you can find your own truth.
