lets call global warming what it really is " the dying death throws of the environment" When the balance gets thrown off things that rely on that balance suddenly start to die.
the Midwest of the U.S. is known as the worlds bread basket,
pretty easy to figure out what happens if all the crops die because of a sudden increase or drop in the global temp.
We starve. global warming can cause the onset of an ice age.
it changes ocean patterns which upsets the delicate balance of marine life things die and again we starve.
changing weather patterns mean destructive storms again we humans die. our very lives depend on the environment maintaining its delicate balance and yet we are doing everything in our power to destroy it.

Global warming is caused by human activity but has an underlying natural trend. It's the natural component that has caused the earth to warm and cool in the past, a change which happens very slowly over many thousands and millions of years.

In the last 200 or so years the rate of warming has been accelerated by human activities - we've overloaded the natural cycles and caused an imbalance in the atmosphere, it's this imbalance which is repsonsible for temperatures now rising so many times faster than has ever before been known.

Lots of reputable organisations have produced models showing how things may be in the future, all agree that there will be considerable warming, just by how much is debateable but most models and the avearge of all models gives a figure of between 3 and 4°C (5 and 7°F).

This might not sound a great deal and the prospect of a warmer planet sounds quite attractive, particularly to those living in colder climates. It is however a very substantial rise and will have devastating consequences for our planet. Hardest hit will be those areas least well equipped to deal with the consequences, namely Africa and Asia.

Globally we're already seeing the effects of climate change and there has been a marked increase in the number of floods, droughts, famines, wild fires, storms and other extreme weather events. Millions have been forced to flee as advancing deserts have engulfed their communities, some island nations have had to be evacuated as rising sea levels have inundated their lands. The outlook isn't a good one and the more we stall for time and the less we do to address the issue the worse the problem will become. It may soon reach the point where the damage caused to Earth is irreparable.

If you're interested, here's a couple of pages that have been adapted from a report I wrote. The first looks at the immediate consequences of climate change, the second looks to the future - http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/effects.html and http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/future.html

global warming is the process of gradual increase in temperatures accross the world which in turn sets off a chain of events.
while the earth has been getting warmer and warmer over the years, in the last century, industrialisation and its side effects such as pollution, deforestation, and the hole in the ozone layer seem to have sped things up a lot.
so is it serious ?
the theory goes that when the temperatures rise the snow caps in the artic and antartic oceans will start to deplete and
as a result the oceans will start to rise, little by little the land will be eaten up by the ocean.
the island countries are more at a risk due to this phenomenon. already the asian tsunami has wreacked havoc and has eaten up some small islands in the indian ocean.
some say that the tsumani, the el nino, and even katrina were results of global warming.
but even if they are not, dont you think the temperatures are already high enough, with or without global warming ? this is the hottest summer we ve had right ?
i dont think we need to warm up the globe any more than this. so its time we do something about it, whether you believe it or not.

godonlyknows -- tsunami was caused by an earth quake -- NOT GW.

Katrina was a hurricane - they have been happening for ever.

hardly snow caps - ice up to 2 miles thick.

el nino - not unusual - not caused by GW

The greatest rise in temperatures will be at the north and the south. Sea ice is already thinned enough to put Polar bears at risk. Soon the Emperor penguins will be at risk.

When the ice cover of Greenland melts away it will create a rise in the oceans. Greenland, with its ice cover gone will be gin to rise which will then contribute to the rise in the oceans.
The rise in the ocean levels will put coral reefs at risk.

As the globe continues to warm so will the ocean temperatures which will expand in volume causing more rise in ocean levels.

Our oceans are at serious risk and therefor so are many millions of people. Our fish are already in danger.

With the influx of so much new water the ocean currents are bound to change thus creating temperature/rainfall changes in the nearby land masses.

Perma frost will begin to thaw and off gas many tons of methane into the atmosphere and contribute to further global warming. The cycle will continue.

Antarctica is still very stable compared to the arctic melt. Will this cause an imbalance and a shift in Earth's rotation?

in case you want to obtain furnish funds for climate examine, do you think of which you are going to get a cheque in case you're saying," i want the furnish, as i think of that i will teach that the figures that the present paradigm is predicated upon are incorrect" ? the great environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. there continues to be no shown causative link between the quantity of Co2 interior the ambience, and a upward thrust in international temperatures. The WWWF pictures of the polar bears swimming have been taken interior the Arctic summer season; while the ice cap partly melts, as they could no longer upward thrust as much as photograph interior the wintry climate. The ice became into too thick! The East-Anglian uni examine figures. "Oh! The figures do no longer tournament our expectancies. Oh nicely. save quiet. because of the fact all of us understand that we are top." while the theory, and the religion is greater significant than squarely dealing with the valid doubts of a great style of non furnish-supported scientists, technological know-how has been superceded via religious zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully pronounced." I pray thee, interior the bowels of Christ, evaluate that thou mayest be incorrect."
