I agree with riverrat323. Unlike vodka, gin has a very distinctive taste and smell. It's flavored with juniper berries from the evergreen juniper shrub, which is why they have a slight piney aroma and flavor. You should be able to smell and taste it.

You'd smell it or taste it if there is enough in there. But if there's only a little bit you may not be able to tell.
