Home Depot or lowes has Wallies. It's removeable wallpaper. They come in fun shapes or solid color strips. You could make fun stripes or blocks of color.

Hi,
What I did with my apartment walls they're all white that gets dull...
In my bathroom at a second hand store I found this really cute wall paper that goes with my shower curtain and put the wall paper border up with tacks so it won't be a perm ant thing. I also found some cute wall hangings for my bathroom and kept on adding things that way....(folks that enter my bathroom rave on how cute it is) Hey its a small area but I put alot of thought into it and it wasn't costly.
In my bedroom I also found some border that fit me and went with that with the tacks and have also have up some huge posters on my walls and also I have wall hangings as other suggested in their replies to you too.
If you have a collection of things you could go with that have a theme of that in whatever room U choose...
Also a neighbor of mine was really creative she put the shelving stuff on her cupboard doors and that made the kitchen looks so cool and not costly either..
Enjoy yourself and be creative with it and do let fear stop you from doing stuff it's your place so Jazz it up :)
Enjoy your place :)

Get eccentric in other words make it interesting with unusual things. Hang a piece of driftwood, some pictures, a shelf with oddities. Ugly + unusual = interesting and a conversation piece.

you can get some nice drapes or sheers and hang them across the wall. i did this in college to hide the ugly painted cinderblock look. it worked and added some warmth to the room!

Art work. You can find cheap versions in posters and some prints. Hit craft stores and garage sales.

Oooo! Fun project!
I recommend cheap tapestries. They can look very, very cool. Get them at Urban Outfitters or, to be very chic, get them at an import store.
