I took my car in to Wal-Mart to have my oil changed and tires rotated, but they told me they couldnt rotate my tires because my outer tie rods needed replaced. I have noticed that my brakes are a little delayed when I press on them.

A friend of mine just took their nissan in to have it looked at because of a noise coming from under the car. He thought it was the wheels but Wal-Mart said it couldnt be and it was definitely the exhaust. He took it into a repair shop to find out that the bearings needed replaced....which is in the wheels not the exhaust....

So basically, I dont trust Wal-Mart... Could it be my outer tie rods? if so, how much would it cost to get them replaced?

If it is the tie rods, am I damaging my car by driving it? How serious of a problem is it? Can it wait or do I need to take care of it asap?

Jack the car up and move the wheel left and right. But look up under at the steering rod while doing it. It could as easily be the inner tie-rod end as the outer. If the wheel moves and the rod doesn't, it's the outer. If the wheel and the rod move, then the inner end is bad.
Wal-Mart is ok to shop, but never take a car there. They simply aren't trained technicians. If a tie-rod end breaks, the wheel will turn any way it wants, and that's not a good thing.

If your tie rods are bad then yes it is dangerous to drive. You could have an accident. I wouldn't trust Wal Mart either so take it to a repair shop and have them take a look at it for you.

Guy gets $8 an hour to change oil and tires, just did not feel like rotating your tires sounds like a crock to me. But that is just my opinion. Do what rich 2481 said

walmart does oil change and tire rotation and installs, THEY DO NOTHING ELSE< it isnt rocket science and I doubt is even done by certified technicians,

if you want to know if your tie rods are bad, grab your tire at 9 and 3 and shake back and forth, if it clunks you have bad tie rods,
