the 150 dollars is probably for the room before room and city tax. if the price goes up then maybe you made calls from your room or you ordered movies. if you got online, not all hotels offer free DSL.
next time ask not just what the price of the room is, ask what is the total price including tax. and what amenities they offer so that you won't have a big surprise when you check out the next day.
the other thing i could think about, is maybe the desk clerk didn't quite know what she/he was doing.

Sorry about your troubles, I, too would be pissed. I would suggest like the other readers to get the quoted price in writing/e-mail along with the name of the person you spoke with. Also, I would make multiple reservations as long as they didn't charge cancellation fees, then you have a place to fall back on. You should be safe by canceling the unused ones by 6pm.

Hey, that sucks, I'm not sure why they did that to you and if you already had it booked I'm pretty sure they can't do that to you. If they ran out of rooms that you booked if any thing I think that they would have to upgrade you. So next time log on to www.travelisbliss.com and this won't happen, and you won't find a better price, if you do the site pays you 120% of the difference. And if you need help searching or anything you can email me. Good luck sweetie.

you should get the amount you will owe in writing - print it out and keep it, including what they will charge for taxes and odd fees. Then if they try to charge more when you check out you can show them what they quoted before hand.
