It's hard to say. Once you have the excellent training provided by the military, you have all kinds of job opportunities available to you without the need of additional schooling.
I was in a corporate electronics job for 6 years after the military without going to school. I took a test in an interview that required at least a 2 year degree in electronics or computer programming. They took my service training and experience as qualifying, and I aced the test. Then I got the job.
Later I decided that what I really wanted to do was cook, so I used my GI Bill to go to Culinary School.
I would have made more money staying in the corporate world, but I love cooking. Now I am an Executive Chef and I love my job.
That's just my experience.

I took full advantage of it. I now possess a B.A. in communications. And now have a good job becasue of my military experiences and that degree.
Is this trying to say that, soldiers DON'T take advantage of it? That we're all stupid or something?

I know many people that do but it all depends on your branch of service and deployment status. When I was in Iraq there is no time for education but once you return to the US and have some down time I continued my education. It took me alot longer then the regular full time college students but I didn't have to pay for it and I have my degree and working on a masters.

I enlisted out of high school and used mine to get a degree. It's a matter of choice, not a matter of odds.

I don't know what the odds are, but I'd bet that most would take advantage of it. I know I did.
