Some poor guy is getting a first hand education on how Global Warming hysteria is attracting the most zealous environuts. I've never heard of any attacks by Louisiana rednecks on Prius's, have you?

"WASHINGTON - Vandals smashed the windows of a new Hummer parked in a neighborhood, slashed the tires and left a message — "FOR THE ENVIRON" — scratched into the body, authorities said."

"Now, as Groves contemplates what to do with the remains of his $38,000 Hummer, he has had to deal with a number of people who have driven by the crime scene and glared at him in smug satisfaction.

"I'd say one in five people who come by have that 'you-got-what-you-deserve' look," said his friend Andy Sexton."

Should all Hummers be destroyed...? No not at all, I'm a firm beleiver in global warming and climate change but I also beleive that each of us should be able to live our lives without interference or condemnation from others. It's for this reason that I favour a scientific approach to solving global warming rather than forcing people to adapt and hitting them with increased taxes and legislation.

People should be encouraged to 'go green' and wherever possible governments and organisations should facilitate this but it's wrong to vilify someone who doesn't conform.

That guy could have a whole fleet of Hummers but if he takes offsetting action then he's better for the environment than the average Joe who does nothing.

By the way, do Hummers in the US really only cost $38,000? I'm in the UK and for that money you couldn't get anything like a Hummer.

If there is indeed any evidence of an organized effort to terrorize Hummer owner into buying something else, the FBI should be brought in, it would clearly be a RICO affair since the intent is to destroy Hummer Incs ability to conduct interstate commerce.

And I too was unaware they were only 38K, otherwise I would have talked my wife into getting one instead of a Honda Ridgeline!!!

Do you know what I would do to these redneck morons....
Go around there houses and smash up stuff that I believe to be environmentally unfriendly.

I mean how stupid and thick do you have to be???
How many hummers are driving around compared to family sized fords, gms, etc.....
Hummers are responsible for almost nothing in terms of total output.

Anyway I think all environmentalists should be hung from their neck from a very tall tree. They are spreading propaganda worthy ot Hitler and Goebbels in their determination to lie to the public.

The earth has gone through several warming/cooling phases since it appeared and no amount of simpletons cycling everywhere are going to stop it this time either.

Just get real.

It's corny and stupid, but it's not done by your typical environmentalists who are trying to help the environment. Unfortunately, most, if not all, groups have their overzealous "members" (if you consider them members), from anti-abortionists, to Zionists, Christians, Muslims, Environmentalists, Athiests, and so on. There's always a few that really bring down the rest of the bunch...

It’s not the rednecks who would do this type of vandalism; it's the granola folks who think what they believe is right and there's no in-between to consider.

I feel bad for the guy, but what are you going to do in retaliation? Flush some burlap smock down the toilet? The vandal probably doesn't have enough money to sue to cover the lost money.

Well, he should have it repaired. They will strip the paint of with strong chemical solvents and repaint the vehicle with paint that requires lots of chemical processing and energy to produce and apply. New tires, of course. They'll have to cut down some rubber trees to produce those and the old tires will be tossed in a landfill with the broken glass and other remnants.

How much pollution do you suppose this act of violence produced?

That's hilarious, but no, I don't think it's right. The problem is people will drive what they want to drive, so we shouldn't be attacking the consumers, but rather the car manufacturers. They have decent electric/hybrid technology and are not selling their best eco-friendly technology yet.

I guess if it happened enough, though, people may think twice before buying one.

I seriously suggest that the perpetrators of the Live Earth concert donate the money to fix the guys car as a means of reinforcing their dubious credibility and disavowing eco vandalism. But I'm not holding my breath.

there was a guy who destroyed suvs and he is in jail forever for not being careful. So, legally no one can say yes to this question but in our hearts..... to see the waste of precious resources by those who should know better while others suffer now and will condemn future generations to suffering.... The Devil comes to kill and steal and destroy and who is the Devil in this story???
