For example: Knowledge that contradicts their doctrine, and people who believe differently than they do.

Most of you have consistently demonized atheists. Were are constantly told we are of the devil. Do you deny this?

Any examples?
Some Christians do that I guess. Some atheists do it too... LOTS on this page! LOL! I get a kick out of the statements atheists just throw out there!
None of us should presume to know the intellect of the another on this page simply based upon their beliefs one way or the other, and none of us should live in fear.
Contrary to what has been often posted, atheists need not fear homeschooling Christians taking over the government (although you KNOW they'd like to!) or something like that, and Christians need not fear the demise of their religion on the basis of a theory that may be popular at any particular moment.
Too much fear all around man!

Because it's part of human nature. Look at when Columbus came to the americas, some thought he was a demon. When he was jailed and told them to free him or he'd take away the sun (knowing there was to be an eclipse) it made him even more of a demon in their eyes. It's because they knew nothing of the Europeans and nothing of eclipses. They didn't understand either and thus dmonized and feared Columbus and his men.
It's not just Christians.

It's not Christians in general, anymore than it's any other group in general. It's the people who hide behind it. Religion, or at least the guise of it, is an easy place for insecure and neurotic people to hide.
Think about it. They don't have to give logical answers, just quote scripture. When they need an excuse, just find an ambiguous passage and hide behind that. If anyone disagrees, that makes them "godless," and therefore, evil and not to be taken seriously.
It's better than than the glasses with the rubber nose built in.

Please stop labeling the Christian as all or nothing...this sentence can be for several different religions and even non religious people think this way.....I am a Christian and I do not think this way at all....I am a happy, prosperous believer that knows what I have in Christ and knows how to use it...I dont give demons the time of day, and I dont give fear any place in my life. It is a wonderful way to live...if people dont understand something and fear it...they need to deal with it...why are you so apt to down anyone of any faith? Does it make you feel better about your own lack of faith? There are alot of "religious" people out there, but they do not have anything to do with a Chistian...you can tell the difference by the people themselves...If Christ lives in you you dont have fear...you have love, you bind demons and dont blame them. so please quit with the all or nothing...that is religion which means back to bondage...and several Christians are believers...not religious...like me

And then deny the fear they feel. I think that by focusing on others they are able to keep from taking their own moral inventory which believe me as I do take mine it is scary but with experience we learn it is the only way we can grow and overcome our own short comings. Further, I'm praying for these type of Christians. I just don't see how they can seek Jesus who was love personified and believe like they do.

Come on! ALL people, the world over, with religious faith and without it demonize what they fear and do not understand. The reason is FEAR. But Christianity teaches that there is no fear in love, because fear has to do with punishment. He who fears has not been made perfect in love. The most charming Christian tactic is forgiving those who persecute them, praying for them, loving the unlovely, and laying down their lives for others. They can do those things because they know God has forgiven them after they confessed their sinfulness. This brings immense freedom, especially from fear of being punished for their sins. Christians don't profess to fully understand that, but they embrace it and commend it to others.

It's pathetic! At least a lot of atheists have been on both sides (ex-Christians..etc) so a lot of them know the bible better than some Christians do.

Goes back to primitive man. If you don't understand it, it might eat you. No time to figure it out - it's bad - run for your life.
On the other side of the coin - familiarity breeds contempt.
